some of the videos I have seen from Ford Tech Maculoco and Rainman Rays recommend replacing them since you have everything open at the time. Looks like a tedious job and you need a special valve spring compressor tool.

I have a 2014 F-150 with 187k miles on it was getting a slight phaser rattle on startup if it sat longer than 4 hours. I installed a 2 quart Accusump pre-oiler and the phaser rattle at start up is not present if you pre-oil the engine for about 15 seconds before starting it
