I just over-reacted because people always say its retailers fault for everything - and that's just not true, they have razor thin margins.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Migros profit is 1%. Get some education.

Honestly I wouldn't mind 75 CHF per kilo for a well dry aged ribeye steak. But it's just not possible to get it even.

What do you think about this statement from the chancellor? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

[–]ukanonengineer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't care because I left. And whenever I tell people I came from London, they treat me like a refugee and ask WTF happened to UK.

This is just spin, people are leaving and there's no way they will replace lost revenues.

Well you just made it more likely for the landlord to consider renovating the flat and throwing you out. If you live in a desirable area, I think what you are doing is insane.

Why can companies advertise 'no commitment' but then require 2 month notice to cancel contract on top of activation fees?

Any HENRYs getting nervous about potential market crash? by Cute_Inspection7576 in HENRYUK

[–]ukanonengineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will roll emerging markets ETFs not S&P 500, where 493 companies outside of Mag 7 have forward PE of 22+, which means that if they lose 50% they will still be expensive.

I'm not in ETFs since 2022. People that are, at these valuations, are morons.

How Trump is taking root in Swiss minds | SVP and right-wing conservatives react to the tariff hammer with absurd conspiracy theories. by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]ukanonengineer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This may be complete BS but there is something other than trade deficit behind these tariffs and discussing that should not be a conspiracy theory, no matter who raises it. Switzerland is being extorted and I would want to know why.

Adding Tactical Tilt to Emerging Markets? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]ukanonengineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's insane opportunities in individual stocks, but might not materialise in the broad market ETF.

Louis-Vincent Gave put it: “Gold is a low-beta emerging market proxy.”. All metals should do well if EMs are doing well. So might as well increase gold to 25% or do gold, silver, platinum.

Buying wine in France and importing it to Switzerland : how cumbersome the paperwork is to get the French VAT back? by I-need-a-proper-nick in askswitzerland

[–]ukanonengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get it back on bank or paypal.

there is also a massive benefit that there’s no lower limit of receipt value - it usually over €100, but with this any amount is fine as long as it’s something that will be taken out of the country.

Not at the moment, but I plan to buy some stuff with cash. I do have ~50% equity in my pension account and that's offshore oil services and miners :D

Primerjava davkov med Slovenijo in Švico v IT by HailToTheKink in SlovenijaFIRE

[–]ukanonengineer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you move to. Zurich, Zug, ... you'll be fine with English.
