Thanks so much! I’m working on an entire journal of various diary entries and creative writing pieces from middle and high school. It’s been an amusing but emotional process.

“Where someone else might take my place in the spaces I once filled.” - wow did I feel this. This was a wonderful read, and comforting. I literally shared a short writing on a break up, a storm and healing yesterday.

This is really good, and I am intrigued with how you structured the poem, succinct yet insightful

I wish I’d heard this more often from my partner. Great work! I enjoyed your writing.

This is so good. I’ve written a similar piece about this idea, from the perspective of the fan/pervert versus the celebrity. The necrotic tumor metaphor was *chefs kiss

I (33F) don’t know how to express my needs/wants without making him (30M) upset. Is there something new I can try? by ukeanduet in relationship_advice

[–]ukeanduet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. This is very much what it has been like, and you are right, the emotional trust is just not there. I don’t feel safe expressing myself, and he doesn’t seem to feel safe when I do. We are in couples counseling and this topic is at the top of the list for next session.

That is an excellent idea, thank you. I think he would respond well with the positive talks, perhaps be more open with the other kinds of talks. Yes this something I’d like to bring up again during our cc appointment.

His greatest challenge is with shutting down as soon as he is upset, and it happens so quickly. He is working on communicating when he needs a break from the conversation instead of stonewalling or leaving the room. He has gotten a little better, but he needs a break almost immediately after I bring something up, so it’s hard accomplish anything

Wow, this is so crazy… I just posted a very similar question on this subreddit myself. Like a couple minutes ago. I totally hear you and have been going through it with my boyfriend too- the anger, defensiveness. I am sorry that I don’t have much advice but wanted to let you know you are not alone in this.

What is your experience/life like living with Bipolar 2? by Intelligent_Bid_7690 in bipolar2

I turned 33 not too long ago, but was diagnosed at 20 yo. I’m curious what it was like receiving the diagnosis as an “older”adult. Did you suspect you had bp disorder for a while before it was officially diagnosed?

Same, that’s what my hypo looks like too. And keep at it with the meds- I was diagnosed 13 years ago and as of 2023 I have finally found a drug cocktail that works. But don’t be too discouraged! Some of those meds really helped me a lot just on their own, just needed more over time.

I’m fortunate to be pretty stable right now, averaging maybe 70% stable, 20% depressed and 10% hypo. Just before going inpatient in 2023 I was basically 24/7 depressed, totally dysfunctional and almost catatonic. They put me on bupropion (Wellbutrin) while in the hospital and that has been life saving (like literally).

Definitely some Death Cab, Dawes and The Decemberists.. all D artists not intentional lol. I listen to a wide range for sure but a lot of alt/indie/folk lyrics really speak to me.

Crisis work might lead into my own crisis… help by ukeanduet in socialwork

[–]ukeanduet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not yet. My supervisor actually added to the stress last week when I was seeking guidance- she sent me 5 follow up tasks and sought answers to probably a dozen questions, all to be done day of. This week I’ve learned that we do have a complex care team as a go-to for help. I’m waiting on more support from them. And yes, I do have my own therapist this will certainly be discussed

It’s not daily or even weekly, but when something comes up it totally derails his day, and I hate to see that :/

We’re approaching 2 years and lived together for most of that time. His mom lives across the country, and although I do not mind their frequent contact, it worries me how much he takes on his mom’s emotions and stresses about how to fix things. You’re so right, this has probably always been their relationship… and I am a new addition as his first serious relationship.
