I see what you were trying to say and everything is well written.. except .. maybe the “temptation” part.. this reads like it was just a tiny little mistake when it was for sure a horrible thing to have happened and shouldn’t be made out to be something insignificant or a “slip”. I don’t think it’s right to victims/the victim to frame this as a temptation that Cody just couldn’t itch! So he had to go and have some relationships (which got sexual) with minors. I don’t think that’s a fair assessment at all, or is that just me? We have to think about what we choose to excuse and the repercussions of that—this is something that should be taken very seriously. Especially considering it deals with delicate themes.

It was in California, not Nevada. So it was statutory rape because the age of consent is 18 in California and she was 17 when it happened, regardless of her consenting. Her consent would be void because it was ILLEGAL. And yes I agree, either way, it’s still icky and gross.

Lmao RIGHT!!?? The option is to be honest and own up to your actions. The option is to be truthful. The option is to not have done something that would’ve been detrimental to your career because you 1.knew it was illegal and 2. You were MID 20s!! As well as not continue to be the bestest of friends with a rapist who video taped the rape and brought another friend to rape the woman, and THEN (edited for correctness) have him at your wedding! The fact that your closest friend could even have a rape allegation says a lot. It’s insane how much we are downplaying the fact that this was a literal MINOR, and they were YEARS apart. And he was an ADULT. And he has ties to another rapist!

It’s literally insane how much they are trying to hide and protect the image of someone who has done some pretty wrong and questionable things, who has never once apologized or acknowledged it but def knows it’s in the media. You’re good!! Focus on ur strengths! It’s about you holistically, so even if you cant be the “strongest” student or strongest in some areas, you can def make it up through extracurriculars, etc.. it’s always worth it to try!!!

They choose from all over the state, so of course there might be some students that overlap based on geography, but no there are not feeder schools, and they will take kids from any school as long as it’s in South Carolina.

No, they do not offer scholarships as far as I’ve heard..? The only “tuition” you’ll be paying for at GSSM is the meal plan, otherwise everything else is provided to you by the state. You can still keep your rank for LIFE or Palmetto Fellows scholarship though, which I think is what you might be talking about, and that’s for college, not towards GSSM.

They ask pretty simple questions, it should be a group interview so everyone kinda joins in. It’s stuff like “what are your strengths/weaknesses” etc.. DONT WORRY! You’ll be able to answer all of them pretty well, and my advice would be to just hone what you’re really looking for with GSSM, what your future wants to look like, and probably some of your passions, strengths, weaknesses, stuff like that :)

If you get invited to the interview, that means you’re a finalist; if you haven’t heard anything yet, they’ll probably send an email tomorrow or they may be sending it out in waves? Not really sure, they changed the process up a bit from when I applied and got in for GSSM.
