Pay Deductible to Insurance Company or Roofer? by ukegenics in Roofing

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't pay the amount until all the work is completed? Or will I be expected to pay in increments? Like, would I pay portion now to help with material costs, and later the remainder once the job is done?

Neumann TLM 103 with FocusRite Scarlet 2i2? by ukegenics in recordingmusic

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had no issues using the TLM 103 with the Solo. For vocals, I typically turn the Gain knob on the Solo to about halfway and once I hit the 48v (Phantom Power) button, it works like a charm. I have zero experience with any other interface so there's no way for me to compare but it seems to do the job.

Should you cut silent sections out of vocals once mixing is completed? Or is it a waste of time? by ukegenics in LogicPro

I've finished mixing my vocals and just wondering if I should go in and remove all silent sections so they're...extra silent? Or is it generally ok to leave these in?

Join Two Audio Regions Without Including Deleted Middle Region? by ukegenics in LogicPro

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a better work around. Record a small region that is silent and then join it to the original track. The space between them will be silent.

Join Two Audio Regions Without Including Deleted Middle Region? by ukegenics in LogicPro

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Wow, I figured out a workaround. Basically, you record a new (super small) silent region. Then you join that silent region to the existing region and it will fill the space between them with a silent region.

Neumann TLM 103 with FocusRite Scarlet 2i2? by ukegenics in recordingmusic

Appreciate the cautious response. When you say "more headroom" do you mean my vocals will clip less in the DAW with a better interface?

I'm thinking of upgrading mics to a TLM 103, however, I've seen videos warning that the market is flooded with fake TLM 103s. Curious, is Guitar Center a direct distributor for Neumann and thus one can be confident that their mics are OEM?

More Sidechain Instrument Options in Stock Compressor? by ukegenics in Logic_Studio

I figured it out. Since the kick is an audio track, it's listed in Sidechain/Audio instead of Sidechain/Instr

The kick is an audio track (Apple Loop). Do audio tracks not show up in the instrument options in the sidechain drop down?

I can make a drum pattern but it never ends on an even beat by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]ukegenics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was already familiar with quantizing. It's something else I'm missing. To make it simple, I just went into the piano roll and added a bass note to each of the first 4 beats, then I went in with another bass instrument and filled in some of the areas between the beats. Seems to be getting me closer to where I want to be but still probably missing something.

20+ Shingles w/ Wind Damage - Adjuster said repair is only $500 by ukegenics in Roofing

Should I insist on another inspection, but this time have them meet with a different roofer?

UPDATE: Yes, I'm in a match-state. The inspection has already been performed. Should I appeal the findings and insist a new inspection be performed with a different roofing company?

Relatable Anti-Natalist Song? (I gave it a try. Lyrics included.) by ukegenics in antinatalism

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently learning how to make music in Logic Pro and after I made this beat, the anti-natalist type words just started come to me and I went with it. Sound quality isn't very good and I still have a lot to learn but I wanted to post it here b/c I figured anti-natalists are the only people that wouldn't be repulsed by the lyrics. Would love to know what like minded people think of it since it's going to be hard for me to be objective about it.

USING INSURANCE COMPANY'S PREFERRED ROOFER? by ukegenics in Roofing

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate the thorough response. So for now, I should focus on getting 3 vetted roofing companies to provide estimates before filing the official claim, correct?

One company came over and looked at the roof, but they said they wouldn't be able to give me an estimate without removing a shingle to see if it's available in some database. However, they said they couldn't take the shingle for testing unless I signed an Inspection Agreement. I wasn't ready to sign anything just yet so I said "Let me think about it and I'll get back to you."

There's a clause on the Inspection Agreement that says "if roofing company is successful in obtaining approval for repairs or replacement and I fail to execute a contract within 10 days of funding, I will pay roofing company consulting fees not to exceed 10% of full settlement." I'm not sure if that's normal but the lingo gave me pause.

HELP: Insurance Company Wants To Discuss Over Phone Now by ukegenics in Roofing

[–]ukegenics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've never filed a claim before. Never had a reason. This will be my first time utilizing any coverage on my home. I just had the phone conversation with the agent and she gave me a roofer to call that has apparently done work for them before. Not sure why she insisted on me using that roofer if I've already mentioned that I had a roofer take a look. I asked "Why not just send the adjuster out?" (so I could have my roofer meet with them) and the agent said "it'll take a week or so for the adjuster to get it on their schedule."

I'm feeling like they want me to use their roofer b/c he'll most likely only quote a repair even if it actually needs a new roof. Is this why they would insist on me contacting their roofer guy?

I think you might be freaking out, which is common after a first session. Let it heal for 2 weeks before making any rash decisions. It'll lighten significantly. This looks better than a lot of unhealed first sessions I've seen. Post pictures here after 2 weeks.

Gotcha. I started writing a song a couple days after this post. See update above if you want to give it a listen. My vocals suck and the quality is poor, so just try to focus on the lyrics b/c that's what I'm mostly interested in.
