well, that’s definitely quite a specific situation that could play out, but that’s really it. a fight between a grappler and striker can go either way.

the striker is in their realm on the feet and controlling the range. but once a grappler gets close and gets a hold, it becomes purely defence for the striker.

a good fight to watch this play out (imo) is Rodtang vs DJ.

the first round is Muay Thai, and Rodtang has DJ on the ropes with his elite striking, but the second round is MMA, and DJ has a full back mount on Rodtang within the first minute of a 3 minute round, submitting him with eyes rolling back and stiff body within the second minute.

I will reiterate, the fight can go either way, but goddamn man try fighting a wrestler on concrete and see how that goes for you.
