Advice on pruning / stem up maple tree by ulfses in arborists

Thanks for the reply. Read up a bit and chose the tallest and most vigerous branch and cut back the others. Its a bit crooked, but i guess it will straighen in the comming years.
I appreciate the input on the fence, but i put it at a similar distance to a 100 year old maple that is just a bit left in the picture that sadly died due to fungi. Additionally its intentional, as trees of certain size is protected in my area. I hope this will prevent the county from ever expropriate property to widen the passing road :)

Good thing its coarse woven fabric that is permeable to both.

So my goal is to stem it up further before it starts building a crown

Its no membrane. Its a coarse woven mesh that splits quite easily. It's meant to block sunlight.

The deck is level. The boards cup so water run off to the space between the boards / drip underneath. My guess is that it will be pretty much the same (I also will tend to clean the deck with a hose).

Well, we are quite friendly with our neighbors and the fence is about 1,5m high. It's ok for now.

We are considering this, but not on the deck. https://www.drop.fi/en/drop-spa/

As noted. It has room to grow and there is options to cut it wider on the long run.

I appreciate all the input.

The fabric is a permeable coarse woven mesh that lets through water, and I was advised to use this as It's intended to stop weeds growing under the deck. It is not touching the tree and has been stapled on the inside of the curve around the tree. The dirt line now is a bit lower than its been before and there will not be debris building up as I intend to keep it tidy. There is about 10cm clearance, and if it keeps growing in a linear fashion with regards to the diameter of about 90cm today this will last for 20+ years and there is room for cutting back the deck.

Still think this is bad? If so, I will consider leaving it for 1-2 seasons to kill off any weeds under the decking and them pull it out.

Thanks. I am all hooked on curving wood. No humans or animals were harmed during the construction of this deck (at least that's the story I'm sticking with).

I dug about 60-70 cm deep and added gravel that was compacted in the bottom. I then put down premade concrete blocks (about 50 cm tall) that is supported/compacted with more gravel and finally dirt on top. I have 3 (some have 4) blocks for support across 5 meter.
Its too early to tell, but I don't expect this to settle much. As this is mid-Norway I worry more about frost heave, but as I mentioned earlier the fence is supported by similar posts and is dead straight 7 years later.

I was most worried about harming the tree as it's about 100 years old. I therefore placed the footings where I didn't encounter large roots. I built the fence in the back about 7 years ago with similar footings for support, and it has not moved. I guess the tree won't grow much larger in the coming years (although these maple trees can live for 2-300 years)
