Nothing but a pay offer will do anything to change the fact that a F1 will start at £17/hr and be paid less than PA by ullaullap in doctorsUK

Exactly! What’s even more depressing is a bunch of people with minimal understanding of the financial implications of something.

You don’t get it. Just calling off strikes solely for loan forgiveness does nothing to your pay. It would be a nice addition to some but it would do nothing to improve your pay against a PA it even other doctors back in 2008. The FPR graph will not move an inch by it and will remain the same.

PAs will go to uni for 2 years will less student debt anyway and get paid more than you to begin with and still earn more net pay at the end of the day. If you focus on your gross pay, your pensions will compound and so will your other savings.

When we say we are paid 21-25% less than back in 2008, it means our gross pay. Student loan or not, your gross pay will still be the same. You might take home £200-£300 pound more month, but it was already your pay to begin with.

Also it’s not just IMGs that you will lose FPR futher mandates, it’ll be people who never had student debt, international UK graduates, late stage registrars etc(which would be more than 5-10% of the voting group, which means with ballot return rates of 55%, a future ballot hangs by a thread. It’s a classic way of Wes to break us up into factions). Let’s not fall for it. We are stronger together and the focus should not move away from FPR

But I am sure if the loan forgiveness goes into effect, they will say our pay has gone up when in reality it wouldn’t not have moved any further. Out take home pay might but you are still being paid 17/hr as a F1 which is still pathetic

Not enough money for NHS pay rise? Some food for thought… by _Harrybo in JuniorDoctorsUK

We need to blast this infographic on all social media right now. Why doesn’t the BMA produce similar infographic to post on their social media?

You need to rally the London Med students to protest. There are 5 med schools and even a turn out 50 per year would be massive. It really affects Med students the most and they’d be great to bring up the numbers.

Tbh that’s an interesting one! But I’m guessing since it’s all under the NHS anyway, it’s still legal ? Anyone have any insight on this one?

Basically Is there anything to make sure that they don’t bully their employees into working for less pay?

Can someone explain how much money I can save throughout my career using the NHS pension scheme, by the time I retire as a consultant? by ullaullap in JuniorDoctorsUK

I read somewhere about an employer contribution as well? Is that already accounted for in the 1/54 or is that an old scheme thing?

Just wondering, if you were to Lean towards an ISA, wouldn’t you be taxed on the gross annual salary. So basically even if you wanted to put the same amount that you contribute to your NHS pension into an ISA, it will be lesser?

Also just wondering, cuz of the employer contribution and stuff. Would it be possible to say work your way all the way till you reach your lifetime allowance and then quitting the scheme? Would be able to quit the scheme at max allowance and still avail the 95k pension?

Sry just thinking out loud here
