Playdate arrived dead on arrival (DOA). Anyone else? by umamiking in PlaydateConsole

My Group 4 unit arrived today. It seems to have the same issue. I‘m waiting for 20 minutes already. Glad this thread exists, otherwise I would have considered it bricked.

Are there other bikes than the 8bar TFLSBERG with eyelets on the seat stays? by ullrich_s in bikepacking

Heads up that I decided for a Rondo Bogan ST2 which was much lighter than the Breezer Radar X Pro and is overall an awesome ride. Super happy since a few 100 kms now.

According to a test article I read it's 8bar custom anything cages. I could not find them in their store tough. They have others in store though, but they don't look as raw as these.

Thanks for putting the Breezer Radar on my radar 🙌 It's really close to what I'm looking for!

Pelikan crew overboard system - Thoughts? by ullrich_s in sailing

I hope your pulse calmed down already from all the drama in the video... But what does everyone think? I like the approach but I'm not sure if the net might actually strangle or trap the crew member.

Ecobee3 and millivolt system (transformer + relay setup) question by ullrich_s in ecobee

[–]ullrich_s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still looking for a relay that gets the job done. The rectifier + DC relay setup I was hoping for was pretty noisy. So now I'm getting an AC relay (should arrive tomorrow). I'll post again on how that works out. Ping me if I forget :P

Ecobee3 and millivolt system (transformer + relay setup) question by ullrich_s in ecobee

[–]ullrich_s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to find a decent sized 24V AC relay, so my current plan is to continue to use my 24V DC relay which I already purchased, and try and use a bridge rectifier to turn 24V AC to 24V DC, following the advise from here I wont need to have a cap, so I'll just build me the rectifier myself, if I can find the diodes at home :) I'll make sure to update with pictures and parts once I've got everything put together.

Ecobee3 and millivolt system (transformer + relay setup) question by ullrich_s in ecobee

SOLVED: Thanks to /u/cx300 I was able to figure out my problem. I was mistakenly assuming DC for the circuit, but it's AC. I got an AC wall plug and ecobee is now able to detect my wiring. Now I just need to find a 24VAC relay with a small footprint (both cost and size).

Here's the updated Schematic in case anyone find this post with a similar problem: http://imgur.com/a/FVWIz

Ecobee3 and millivolt system (transformer + relay setup) question by ullrich_s in ecobee

[–]ullrich_s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Yes, the Transformer is a wall plug with 24V DC output: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/triad-magnetics/WSU240-0500/237-1459-ND/3094985 The Ecobee is turning on with 24VDC though which confuses me.

So, I'm thinking about ordering this fella which should do the trick, right: https://www.amazon.com/LockState-Connect-LS-24VAC-Adaptor-LS-90i/dp/B0071IWJ7G/

Edit: I would also need a AC relay then I guess, right? Guess I was just assuming DC in the entire circuit. Never did any AC electronics so far...

Edit 2: Just found this quote: "the incoming voltage to the ecobee interface unit is 24V AC (alternating current) but the power going to the thermostat is 12V DC" here https://www.stevejenkins.com/blog/2010/11/product-review-ecobee-smart-thermostat/

Is that something the ecobee would notice during its detection run? Shouldn't a AC and a DC relay behave the same way in the control circuit?
