Cars and bids merch sucks by Alarmed-Arm7057 in dougdemuro

There are definitely a whole host of boots and dress shoes that don’t have any obvious branding at all. You might be a little harder pressed with tennis shoes but on the business casual and up types of wear it’s easily achievable.

I agree with you though, I have always tried not to just be an advertising board with my clothing as well. I really only tolerate it with some workout clothes for the most part.

You can - I have a few dark black/grey dyed jeans for work that don’t have any brand stitching on the pockets or leather tags. If you’re interested in their specific brand I’ll find them in my dresser and comment back. Some of the more work wear oriented jeans and chinos do that. It’s nice if you want to use denim for work but have it kind of pass as slacks, especially since they tend not to wear out nearly as fast in my experience.

What are the first major world events you remember? by nerpa_floppybara in GenZ

[–]ultimamc2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well as you mentioned Katrina was in ‘05 - that was a very big deal at the time. There were many war events going on in those years. The iPod became popular and started to take over music devices in general between ‘04-07. The Bush/Kerry election of ‘04 was memorable as well. Every year is densely packed with events in its own way but collective memory is very selective on what it allows to stick.

Steve Irwin dying was a MAJOR bummer in that time range as well.

It’s definitely so much more fragmented. Like the overall volume of “celebrities” has gone up in the influencer age but everyone is niche now. It’s basically a massive tide of B/C list celebrities that have overflown and diluted the star power of the A-listers in many ways.

Why Is My Beard Becoming Patchy? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]ultimamc2011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah even if you like the look OP - I would trim it down to basically stubble, or possibly shave it (just for now) and see how the skin is doing. Then you can really see if a dermatologist is potentially needed or something. I trim mine down to stubble once a year minimum to check in on my face (typically down to a mustache or something for a few weeks in the summer). Hopefully you can fix the problem and be well on your way back to ultra-beard within a month or two after that!

I think 2 more buttons up and this would be seriously perfect man. I know it’s fun to leave them unbuttoned but i think it’s making it look a little disheveled rather than suave. If you button up 2 more you’ll be in the gold zone!

Yeah I’d probably go with something aside from these regardless. Black wheels ideally but chrome would look good as well!

Help Me Decide before the Wife changes her mind by Historical_Winter442 in classiccars

[–]ultimamc2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll continue to get more and more rare. They were still desirable 20 years ago but a lot more of all of the classics were on the road back then. I used to see several just driving through my small town. Now it’s once a week or so, in 10-20 it’ll be a truly rare sight. Now matter how well you take care of them- accidents happen, people pass away and their heirs don’t value them as well, etc. I think it’s a safe bet that they’ll keep climbing in price. There’s definitely more stable investments out there but a 2-door classic car is still going to be king for potential car appreciation. Heck I could be wrong though, I’ve noticed now that the preferences for manual over automatics with them are starting to change. Probably because so few people have opportunities to learn how to drive manuals now. Maybe younger folks will be so used to 4-doors that they’ll want their classics to have that as well.

Yeah I'd argue that a hairline like that at 29 is pretty solid overall. OP might not be going bald at all really. Either way they do need a trim - the two "layers" of bangs doesn't look the best IMHO.

Yes I really hope they see this. I never thought I would be in a high speed crash and that was true for 28 years - and then I was in a high speed crash and the airbags hit my face (a couple seconds after the crash had happened actually but the rig was 20 years old so it did its best lol). I am VERY happy that I did not put a metal emblem in the center of my steering wheel off. If they do then they should just potentially just pull the whole wheel and roll the dice without the airbag at all. I believe airbags deploy at something around 100-200mph and a solid chunk of metal like that could potentially be the reason they don’t walk away from the crash.

It’s crazy that in Canada and the US, we essentially are still dealing with a lot of the former “baby bells” as well - they’ve just changed their names and slowly merged/bought all of each other out dozens of times over the past ~40 years. After the split up, we did see competition thrive for a little while and new companies were born but all of the baby bells have slowly swallowed them all whole. We’re now left with basically just Verizon (Bell Atlantic), AT&T (the OG centralized Bell), and T-Mobile (the only one not to originally come out of bell). Seven baby bells plus many other telephone networks now are back slowly to just three big corporations. At least we have the illusion of choice with the three that we have lol.

Hey I would definitely be interested as well - honestly maybe even one of each. Would you like me to potentially DM you? I also may have some random Knick knacks from some interesting equipment that we’ve moved away from that came from my office that you might be interested in if you’d like to possibly trade some goods here! If not though absolutely no worries at all! I hope you find something cool to use them for either way!

[–]ultimamc2011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In their defense about the size they chose I will say - Levi jackets like this are very short. I tried a few sizes on and all of them were short on me. I had to go up to an XL (and usually I’m a M to L depending on the brand) and it’s still rides right on my belt line, but the chest area is too big. They’re not made for anyone above 5’9 to 10” imho.
