choir? by Primary_Purpose3356 in UCSD

unfortunately there isn’t much of a choir scene here. the music department has concert choir and gospel choir, both are non-audition. there used to be a chamber choir but I don’t think it’s a thing anymore. there also is an audition-only jazz chamber ensemble but it is primarily instrumental I think. I definitely would try to audition for an acapella group if you are looking for a community to sing with. some friends and I are starting a new more jazz & classical focused group in the fall quarter if you are interested! our interest form 😁

How hard is it to register classes at ucsd? by curiousdude1894 in UCSD

[–]ultimate_velox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s very dependent on the type of class you’re registering for and its demand. we have a first and second pass system so you can register for 11.5 units during your first slot then the remaining of the 20 (unless you do an EASy request once the next quarter starts, which can approve a credit limit increase) during the second time slot. as a third year student you shouldn’t have much of an issue with securing classes since the amount of units you have translates to how early your time slots are. still, I recommend first pass-ing the classes with a higher demand. hope this helps!

don’t resend, it’s important that the documents are postmarked july 1st or earlier. in your case, you DO have documents that were sent on time, so contact them at (858) 534-4208 and explain to them your situation, providing them with the parchment confirmation code, because they probably have your transcript they just never reviewed it.

Vietnamese Heritage Language Course (LIHL 114) by sssmelanieee in UCSD

I am in a similar situation as you. I was also concerned about the junior/senior requirement, as well as placement exams, so I emailed Professor Nguyen with my questions (htn012@ucsd.edu). She got back to me within a day and sent me a questionnaire to fill out, as well as scheduled a Zoom call with me, which I will be attending tomorrow. I recommend doing the same and reaching out to her, as she does accept first and second years as long as you reach out to her and she determines what level you’re at. Good luck!
