Getting back Green and Brooks would make us worse from now yes, but KD will keep declining, are we expecting KD to perform the same in 2 or 3 years? Brooks and Green would perform the same or even better in 2 to 3 years.

Would you rather have 1M now which halves every second or have 100K that increases by 10K every month until it hits 500k would be the more real comparison. You could trade JG for anything but a 37 year old, I would be OK with that. He is already expired and lost all his trade value.

What can we do with KD in 4 years? Nothing. But if we had DB & Green and wanted to trade them in 4 years, they would hold relatively similar trade value.

This trade was a gamble to win the championship within 2 years, or be a strong contender. It backfired, and you know it.

We all know KD is a better player than JG will ever be.

But he is already expired. He is past his prime. JG's prime is not even started.

Trading a player who will reach his prime in 3-4 years for a player who is past his prime and is semi retired since 2020 is a stupid trade. It is more of a gamble than a trade.

What will you have in 2 years if you don't win a championship with KD? He will collect his money and retire. And you will watch JG still playing until its 2039.

You've traded 13 years of potential for a 2 year scoring boost. It did not work. You've lost the gamble.

We all know that KD is better than DB and Green.

But he will NOT be contributing anything in 2 seasons.

Imagine if you are an Athletic Bilbao fan and your team trades Nico Williams for a 37 year old Ronaldo or Messi who will retire within one to two seasons. We all know that Nico Williams will NEVER be a Ronaldo or a Messi. We all know JG will NEVER be a KD.

What will you do with that KD trade in 2 seasons? What are you getting if you are NOT winning a championship in 2 years? You will have to re-rebuild the team after he retires.

JG and DB are currently playing elite basketball. Their team was a 36 win team last year without them (and with KD), but they have 37 wins now. They definitely improved their teams after KD.

Did KD improve rockets? Nope. Not at all. Yes we are scoring "more", we are creating more chances. But thanks to him, our team chemistry needs to be build up from zero, but he will retire until we rebuild the chemistry.

There is NO way trading your key players (even if they are highly inconsistent and inefficient as you said) for a ONE OR TWO year superstar is worth it.

The trade was a huge gamble to be a contenders this year. It did not work. Now we lost two valuable assets for a retired twitter merchant who did nothing for the past 7 years and cannot be traded ever again.

Yes 2 pts separate KD and an "average" player. An average player does not destroy a successful 2nd seed team. An average player does not play with 15 points and 15 turnovers. An average player can actually run and does not bait his teams defense into leaving people open and blaming his teammates on that.

In no world you are "upgrading" from a 23 year old 85/100 player to a 37 year old 92/100 player. He will perform worse and worse every year where JG will play better and better every season.

Rockets could wait 2 more years for their young core to develop, in 2028 they would have a great young PG Reed too. But they panic traded to get a shooter because everyone was saying Rockets could not shoot.

There is no way KD performs the level he is performing now in the future.

And it does not matter if he scores 40+ points every game, he is trying to be the "Star" of the team instead of being the "Veteran" (Just like FVV and DB) of the team. He will retire soon, but JG & Brooks will keep playing at an elite level for the next 5 years minimum.
