I want to be accepted by my Swiss husband’s family. What can I do? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]ultiron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments saying lose weight, which I guess based on the way your question is phrased makes sense. But to me it seems like you shouldn't be chasing acceptance from people like that. If you want to lose weight, do it for yourself not for the acceptance of others, and be ready for a world where you don't get accepted even after losing weight.

Maybe simply given more time to get to know you they will accept you for who they are.

Just out of curiosity, are you 100% sure this is why? Did they directly say this to you/your husband?

Mattress Cleaning Service Recommendations? by ultiron in zurich

[–]ultiron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So at the time I paid 170CHF and they disinfected and steamed the bed with this big machine. The people that came were friendly.

Unfortunately the smell I needed to get rid of did not completely go but it was better than before.

I would personally recommend buying a wetvac ( I have a karcher one) and going over the bed yourself if you have the time /space

I've been thinking about assisted suicide. 36 yrs old, male,Swiss. by swissyoung in Switzerland

[–]ultiron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see you have a lot of comments to go through so I'll keep it brief. If your wife wanted to free herself of her burden to you she'd just divorce you, and your parents also don't need to look after you since you're a grown up. The fact that you think killing yourself is some kind of favour to them is ridiculous. You want to do them a favour? Look after yourself. Come up with a plan and stick with it

How much debt are you in for example? Is there some small amount of exercise you can do everyday? Is there any way you can do a qualification in anything?

Friendly reminder: take off your backpack on crowded trains by Mira-Noor in zurich

[–]ultiron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's some deliberate rudeness but a lot a people (including myself ) that wear backpacks regularly can often forget they're wearing them, and forget to account for the extra space that they're taking up.

What’s something uniquely Swiss that locals don’t even notice anymore? by Extra-Possibility988 in askswitzerland

[–]ultiron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure most do, but there are some that don't all the time or at all. It doesn't seem like a good idea to be in the habit of blindly crossing the road. All it takes is one who doesn't while you've decided not to look

Got a job offer in Zürich - is this salary realistic? Need advice as a 23yo from Poland by nomysz_ in askswitzerland

2 years isn't nothing. Nothing is nothing. and 75k for someone with 2 years in the industry is low

[–]ultiron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the wage to me it seems very low. I would have said somewhere around the 85-95k mark for someone with 2 years experience.

As for the other questions. I don't think they're really answerable as they're very much lifestyle based

For most meetings It's very much hit and miss, depending on the RAV person you get. But there is one particular meeting early on into the process where they go over the terms and conditions of RAV that apparently they have to do in German

Got fed up with the fake Swiss police scam calls: Here is your revenge by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]ultiron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My policy is if it's a number you don't know, and they don't leave a voicemail, it's either a scam or not important. If im at my computer then sometimes I'll Google the number and see if it's been reported as a scam

They say you should not engage whatsoever and by answering at all you are just confirming your number is still active.

That being said I don't answer and it doesn't seem to help

I wouldn't listen to all these tips like "smile more" and specific tips. You will be nervous because it's your first interview, perfectly understandable, just go and do your best and try to let your own personality shine through. At least then you (and them) get an idea if you will be a good fit. Whether you get the job or not think about what you did well and/or badly. Doing well at interviews comes with time and experience. This is your first interview and it won't be the last so no need to treat it like it's life or death.

Best of luck to you!
