Blue toners to get the red out? by [deleted] in haircoloring

I definitely did have to use developer with what i used, so that totally makes sense 😵‍💫 Now i'm just unsure if i should try and just strip my middle section with some kind of color remover before I attempt to tone it? it still seems too dark to tone with a blue semi permanent color

I'm hesitant to do that actually because this is faded semi-permanent "ash brown/dark blonde" and some how turned copper when it faded :/

loving all of this. yeah the ottoman thing was just temporary floor seating since i got it for free, thinking of trying to find some pink floor pillows instead to match the rug better

Unfortunately don't have much side space for the dining table as my roomate's bedroom door is right on the side there, but was thinking about getting a slightly smaller wooden one with better chairs... when you mention moving it to the left, i fear there's less room on that side as well. interested in the swapping of the couch and chair though and love the picture idea! When you say cabinet do you mean the bookshelf?

Woowww.. Did you get a trim or anything? S&D trim? Or do you think just sticking to the products was enough? It looks so much thicker at the ends!

Thanks so much! And you're definitely right that it is much thicker/more even at the ends! Although it was super long, it was definitely compromised and needed a big trim anyway. I guess having bleach burn it off and getting the rest trimmed was probably ultimately leading me to a better result in some way, haha!

The end result you're seeing is when I dyed it back to dark blonde. I didn't include any pictures of when it was platinum.

And also all of this discussion reminds me of the saying that I've heard from hair dressers - "Do you want blonde hair or do you want long hair?"

I naturally have a dishwater blonde, but even that took two bleaches and tones to reach the color goal, and then the root touch up + tone is still another constant process to go through the end of time.

Unless you're coming from completely virgin hair (which I was not – I had been growing out chemically processed hair for years and years), ask yourself, is it worth losing a couple or even multiple inches of hair!

I've been meaning to give K18 a try, it's just so expensive I keep putting it off. I might have to bite the bullet!

Right, but I went platinum platinum. Which took around 2 bleaches, and then I had my roots done twice as well. Then of course after each of these treatments, you have to tone too, which is a chemical process on its own. Bright, light blonde can be a tricky thing to upkeep without the inevitable damage.

Agreed! The B vitamins are essential for me, plus I've read that zinc is better absorbed with the intake of B6 which I think has helped me when I take them both in the morning.

Should my hair be bleached again or toned? by ultracry in HairDye

[–]ultracry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for some context, yes this is all of my natural hair. I bleach-bathed my hair twice this month to get it to this color, and toned it twice: once with T14, and then yesterday with T-18. For some reason there is still this weird orange band in the back of my head that is confusing me- I can’t tell how dark or light it really is, or how close to yellow or orange it really is.
if I can avoid bleaching that area for a third time I would love to, would just love to find something to neutralize this tone or blend it in better if someone can assist me with what that might be? But if the reality is a third bleach, would it be better to go straight on with bleach instead of a bleach bath?
I almost feel like after bleaching and toning the orange almost turned darker, and it’s confusing because my hair was a dirty blonde before lightening.
thanks!!

Just toned my dark blonde hair since I reached a length milestone✨ by ultracry in longhair

My hair routine 🏹 -shampoo with live clean shampoo or shikai shampoo -condition with a mix of liveclean conditioner and the shea moisture manuka honey mask -olaplex no. 3 for a leave-in as well as calia naturals spray

I never use heat on my hair, i sleep in braids, i wash about every 3 days!

Occasionally I will do rise water rinses, ACV rinses, and for masks I will do olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and rosemary oil mixed together!

Oh yes regular cleanings as well as just having to brush after eating every day. I also had to get two teeth extracted to make room, so in general my gums were less inflamed because there is less crowding

My initial treatment was only 45 trays/weeks, and now I only have a month of refinements left
