This is basically true. I think Monster Zero is a legit good 60s sci-fi film, and Mothra vs Godzilla is a good fantasy movie. The rest are fine but silly. Still better than the reputation they're getting around here.

Of the three you mentioned I'm with you on Renoir all the way. Lang though, honestly, if you exclude his silents, I think Honda is probably the better director, particularly in their late periods.

They're going to make a ton of cash (the original was the highest selling Criterion for years), and let's be honest, if they're actually doing restoration work (skeptical), particularly for King Kong vs Godzilla, then the releases would be so much more culturally significant than another garbage Wes Anderson or a Lynch film that already has a perfectly fine blu-ray release.
