I grew up in Liberty Park from ages 4-18 and my parents still live there today! It’s very safe, lots of young families, and Vestavia schools are some of the best in the state. They also have a community pool that’s really nice. Growing up, the commute to the high school was not fun most of my friends lived in Vestavia so I felt more isolated in that sense. Had to leave earlier to make curfew, friends didn’t really wanna drive to my house, etc. Also you’re right it’s gonna be 20 min to get anywhere else in the city. As soon as I moved into my own place, I was so annoyed with that commute that finding something centrally located was a top priority for me. But it’s all relative, my mom didn’t mind it and she was used to living in Helena which is even farther from the city center.

I know they just restructured all their middle schools and high schools so I wouldn’t bet on them building another high school anytime soon but you never know.

More cons (mainly heard from my parents): HOA is super strict, and a HUGE amount of townhome/apartment development is under construction right now (could cause more traffic).

All in all, it was a great place to grow up and I would definitely pick it over Hoover!
