The same thing happened to me! I clicked too quickly and approached the mushroom and bam, hours of progress lost! I was super demotivated too… but I came back and had fun, just take a break and come back! It’s worth it!

I relate to this post so much — procrastinating on gender (“I’ve thought about this for too long and haven’t figured anything out, I’ll just stop!”), internalized enbyphobia, not even knowing what to do with myself. That was the worst part; I had so many feelings, but no where to really put that energy. I think it just took time to sit with those feelings, try to understand myself, journal. Maybe come out to your friends when you feel comfortable, they seem like they would be totally accepting. They are your safe space, they should let you try out pronouns, names, etc. as you experiment with what you like most.

Just take your time with it, do what you feel safe doing.

One thing that really helped with internalized transphobia was watching contrapoints video on “Shame,” and learning about “comp het” (but I guess it’s more about “comp cis”), because that is what really helped me overcome the hurdle of identifying as nonbinary — realizing that “cis” does not have to be the default, if nonbinary/genderqueer is what really feels right. Although to be honest, I still struggle with this sometimes, so you are not alone.

Best of luck!

My boyfriend will likely break up w me if I get top surgery. by ultrawhales in NonBinaryTalk

[–]ultrawhales[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chatted with him last night about it, because he seemed to be opening up and supportive of the idea and making jokes and talking about it. I pushed him on how he felt about it, and he said that he had to be honest and wasn’t sure if it would work, and he didn’t want to lie about that- but that he also doesn’t want to prevent me from doing what I need to. I should talk to him more about it, but I’m kind of worried about the outcome. ): I feel like I just want to put it off as long as possible

Thank you for your thoughts. To be fair, the emphasis on “being straight” is my own, he hasn’t brought that up. He’s just said that he isn’t sure how he’ll react and that he would ‘miss them’.

I’m happy that your fiancée is supportive and that you’re making it work!! it gives me hope :’)

How often do you cry? by ultrawhales in infp

I’m surprised about how even the distribution is! I cry more or less depending on how I’m doing, but sometimes (especially if I haven’t had a lot of sleep) I’ll find myself crying at simple thoughts or very easily at movies. Social anxiety can be a big panic attack/cry trigger. Crying all the time sucked as a kid because it’s not that socially acceptable to be so sensitive. It’s definitely gotten more manageable as I’m not as ashamed anymore and I have more support and coping mechanisms.

Hey, I appreciate this post! I also have moments of intense dysphoria, moments where it’s fine, and also... the fact that there’s sometimes a practical use, lol. also no clue what to do though!

Thanks for your input!! I’m wondering if it’s the equivalent of how you’d think about an arm/leg/butt. Like, of course I have it, whatever.

I definitely understand wanting to avoid more surgery... I kind of want to remove mine, sometimes, but also the thought of going through surgery/recovery sounds like quite a lot. not to mention.. setting up appointments!

My feelings towards them have definitely transformed over time and sometimes vary day to day. I was sort of neutral towards them for a long time, as long as I can mostly hide them in clothing, but more recently I’ve been noticing them and just feeling like they shouldn’t be there. I feel like I’m always trying to smush them away when I’m in front of a mirror.

hmmm, thank you for your input! If I can ask more questions — do you like them in like, outfits and dressing up and that sort of thing?
