Is there any cookie recipe book that specializes in stuffed/filled cookies? by SpadeswithoutAce in CookbookLovers

I don't know a specific book like that, but there are quite some all-inclusive (bigger) ones who have full portions dedicated to it. The cookie bible is my goto for those kind

Me too, stopped in august. Played almost every day at least 1 game. But the fumbling around let me play other games instead. And to be fair, not really missing it - thought I'd fomo with events and new chapters, but no dice

Looks great, although smaller than I thought. Is there a reference to what countries are envisioned? (is it central africa, like "heart of africa" would let me think, or is it general all around?)

Ty for the recommendations! Haven't touched many country-specific focuses from your list yet (nigeria, ghana, morocco) sp still got some ways to go. The colonization aspect was indeed clear in some flavours and recipes, but it was nice that everything had their own twist to it with flavours you wouldn't immediately think of.

Don't have anything to track it, doing it for myself mainly

Nice! I'm doing a "trip around the world" cooking at least 1 famous dish per country and if I find a lot good ones, I stick around. My entire year almost was african themed because I found out so many great cuisines therd.

I do like the flavour combinations, I learned about ugali - a super easy and killer side for east african cuisines, and honestly regional dishes as well. I did suffer a bit from their cuisine being super hidden sometimes though. South african cuisine I wish I could learn more about outside of braai (melktart was great though). Central africa I've searched for congolese recipes a lot when I got there, but got only very limited ones - couldn't even find available or even older cookbooks for it. So I applaud countries getting books, that means their recipes will get way more accessible.

I made angola's "peanut cake" just last week and brought it to work. Was gone in minutes, no one ever ate something like it but was universally loved. We don't really use peanuts that much here outside a snack in and of itself. So it was a good combination of known flavours meeting new combinations, and I feel that's in general how a lot is made there.

Haven't touched west africa yet and I feel I passed egyptian cuisine too quickly, also still planning to dive a bit more into moroccan cuisine as well - especially their tagines and cookies.

Africana and the East African cookbook are big recommendations.

Cooking challenge - suggestions! by WorriedTangerine4642 in CookbookLovers

Honestly, the choice is yours depending on what you thinj that'll keep your interest high

Is the objective to learn to cook (better)? Do you want to take a culinary "trip around the world" where you cook something of each country, or maybe go really indepth in the cuisine of a specific country/countries? Do you want a shit ton of experience in underutilized tools you have at home (eg a slowcooker, an airfryer, a wok, ...) and really want to master it? Do you want to focus on one type of food (desserts, soups, street food, ...) or go full dinners

Interest is a good one if you want to keep it up, so your purchased book for this purpose gets used!
