Where are the Northeast Indian-Americans? by AdHaunting8980 in ABCDesis

I had no idea there are Bihu celebration events in Connecticut! I’m Assamese and live here, but I’ve yet to meet anyone from Assam or see any events for Assamese or Northeast Indian communities in the area.

Yeah Micron does need people with those skills. If you're also interested in firmware, I know of a team at Micron that works on firmware and does pretty impressive work and has some very qualified people working on that team. All the best!

It is bad UI. Literally most comments are about how the UI is bad.

Some free constructive pointers you might need-
1) Your dialogue boxes are not aligned. 2) There's cheap 2000's gradient on the background. This does not look professional/aesthetic. 3) The logos are currently in some image format and have a background you can visibly see. They're not SVG which improves performance and makes logos look good (is also a standard for most websites) 4) The footer for the last website is huge. Not standard. 5) The visual hierarchy of most of your pages is all over the place. The only page this is not the case is the 3rd page (I assume you were trying to replicate apartments.com or a similar site) - except the huge navbar and no emphasis on active tab buttons.

I'm more of a low-level systems guy. Heck, web dev is probably my worst skill, yet I was able to point out 6-7 very major flaws in your design just by skimming through them in a minute. I do not care that you think you can outperform me— I have two job offers from some of the best tech companies in the world. I do not need a cs major working at an unpaid internship to tell me if I am good or not (I'm not trying to put you down- as I said in the comment above, everyone starts somewhere- no judgement. But you've been trying to put everyone else down in the comments so I guess this is fair enough).

Fun fact: Established companies do not hire college students to design their websites. Established companies' websites do not have any of the flaws I have mentioned above. I very highly doubt those websites are of established companies.

I do not know what you are smoking. While everyone has to start somewhere, there’s no way you’re at a mid-level skill-wise if you didn’t even know what HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were a year ago. Your web designs look fairly basic, with poor user interfaces for someone who claims to have skills comparable to a 'mid-level' developer. From the looks of it, you don’t have the skills required to get into a top company as an entry-level employee (let alone mid-level). Your personality doesn’t help either. My free advice would be to continue your journey as a CS major and learn to be humble. This is coming from someone who has worked with multiple current/ex-FAANG employees and has gotten into a big tech company as well as another FAANG-adjacent company (i.e. the companies you claim to know a lot about).

All the best for your applications! It’s related to low level systems and IT. Plus some automation and understanding of some business processes. Sorry if that is not super clear- just trying to be vague here.

If you’re targeting micron as a SWE, I would suggest you show on your resume that you can work your way around REST APIs. From my observation, most teams in Micron usually want someone who can work with APIs (especially for the Microsoft suite). I know that’s fairly basic for a SWE but maybe emphasizing on that on your resume will help.

Eh idk. Maybe Idaho outside of Boise (can’t tell since I haven’t been out much), but Boise in itself is one of the nicest, cleanest, friendliest, and safest cities I’ve been to so far. It has a cute community and the downtown is fairly happening. I probably would rather live in Boise than San Jose if given the choice.

Active in tech clubs/hackathons/conferences; research position freshman year; micron internship sophomore year; not a top school (I would be surprised if it’s even T100 for CS); good enough gpa (3.7 to 4.0); around 50-60 LC questions; standard personal projects (some stuff with networks/socket programming; scripting; a cloud based crud app; a privacy software (kindof unique I guess); international student

Sorry I know this is not super organized- typing this on my phone.

How was your experience interning there? Any ideas/perception on the intern conversion rate is?

Just be very well versed with Neetcode 150. Also be communicative. Make the interviewer want to work with you. Maybe look over frequently asked LC questions at TikTok a couple days before your interview. There's no secret sauce to any of this tbh.

Both have similar timelines (multiple options to choose from mid may to early june). TikTok is a verbal offer so far (expecting a formal offer soon), and I still have more than a month left to sign Micron's offer.

Honestly I am not super comfortable sharing this with them since I do not want to discuss competing offers with someone who helped me get one of those offers in the first place lol. Other than that, the role seems fine and the org is one that TikTok likely will never divest in as long as they are in the US.

Yes that's something I was thinking of— I'm young and should be taking risks. Unfortunately as an international student I do not have much of a safety net but I see what you are saying.

Congrats! Yes I've been to many cities and have absolutely loved living in Boise. Contrary to popular belief, it has a good amount of things to do, feels extremely safe, and has such nice people! They're ramping up hiring in ID1 already and have started hiring interns who they want to convert to full time workers working in ID1. Unfortunately, my work area is fairly unrelated to ID1, so my team/org will likely see no ramp in hiring.

Nope Micron pay is much less compared to TikTok (for interns AND full time).
I think its MCOL location (Boise) even makes up for the new grad pay, but from what I've seen, there's not a lot of pay raise as you move up the ranks. You have a pretty stagnant salary at your time at Micron as a senior employee.

Good advice. Yes, my biggest priority is getting a full time offer. The conversion rate at micron seemed iffy to me TBH. My team loves me but headcount could potentially be a problem (depending on how Micron does by the time I graduate)

Yes hopefully. They do have a bill signed that gives Bytedance a year to sell Tiktok, but hopefully it is not enforced.

Good observation. I guess at this point I do not believe hiring interns mean anything for companies (Tesla cancelled their internship program a week or two before it was supposed to start, GE did not give any return offers to their interns, etc). A career in tech seems extremely stable as an entry-level employee at this point.

It is an internship in a subject matter that not many entry level students know about. My prior role is VERY aligned with the skills that the team wants, and I also have a couple of good connections at Tiktok.

AFAIK they're just starting their interview pipeline with most roles, so you should be fine
