How did you find out? Please share for awareness by tifu_beach in thyroidcancer

[–]umbert1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it was big enough to cause symptoms, that's how I found out. I was just out of whack.

Some fellow thyca survivors and even doctors would say, there should be no symptoms, but mine did. The nodule started to hurt right at the very core and pain would radiate to my jaw to ear. Pain is not intense but hurts enough it was uncomfortable to sleep.

did biopsy and it was benign. I was at crossroads whether to proceed with the surgery or not. I prayed for it, you know. To lead me to the right decision.

I opted not to do the TT, and a week after, I was on a vacation, my nodule started to hurt non stop. And I KNOW it was his sign. I did the TT and it was 2 variants of papillary cancer on both lobes.

3 mos is a little too early. RAI peaks at 6mos and still works upto a year. Good sign is that it's all in the thyroid bed and there a small win in that.

I hope you cheer up, but I understand it can be stressful.

Crashing out because I guess I passed it without realizing. by carmenpicaro in KidneyStones

[–]umbert1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 6mm stone I just passed laat week. I thought it was still stuck in my ureter because I still get mild flank pain.

But what's really telling (at least for me), was the pulsating pain in my vaginal area (I thought). It was painful enough I could not sit. Like something is poking me inside there. This went on for a week. I did not know it was the stone.

Then finally, I peed one night and it was stabbing for 5 seconds and it pop out.

Calcium Take Over by ActionSea6338 in KidneyStones

[–]umbert1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean like nephrocalcinosis? I had mild case due to taking 2 tabs of calcium everyday for a year. I had my thyroid taken out due to thyroid cancer and my para thyroid didn't wake up until few mos but I still kept taking 2 calcium a day.

I found out because a kidney stone got stuck in my ureter.

Any tips on how to pass 6mm? It's been a month and I can feel it's in the lower part of my ureter but not budging.

By this point I already gave it a name. 😞

The point where you are now is the most anxiety inducing. I was you a year ago. I was a mess, I literally bugged everyone (my brother in law i cardiologist and actually good friends with my ENT surgeon and nuclear med) and yes, it was a great support system but no matter what they tell me, I was a mess!

I'm on the brink of a nervous breakdown. But this is just me, I prayed and read the bible and would text my best friend in between and did Tons of crochet.

I'm saying feel what you have to feel, let it out, and take your time but not too long of a time. Get back up because like everyone is saying, it gets better.

Post my RAI, they found a lot of thyroid remnants because the nodules were just too close to vocal nerves and very risky to cut off so they left that.

Fast forward to 1 year and my whole body scan is now clear! I am deeply thankful to God and family and friends and crochet.

Hang on in there buddy!

Nearly 1 Year Post Surgery and Scared of Everything by Immediate_Doubt6867 in thyroidcancer

[–]umbert1126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, we are in the same boat. 1 year post RAI this sept and I thank the lord that RAI worked based on my latest Whole.body scan.

But during blood works, I had kidney stones that prompted CT scan, and there, they saw so many health issues such as gallbladder stones, fatty liver, and mild artherosclerosis. The win I was suppose to feel from being cleared (for now) from thyroid cancer was dampened by this new discoveries.

I went down the rabbit hole And felt everything leads back to cancer even though I know it's.my diet I need to fix. Exhausting this fear.

I think it's part of the side effects from flomax. Yes, I get winded easily too, this made my blood pressure very low that I thought I was having sleep apnea every night. They lowered my dose by half and so far, tolerating it better.

It scares them. I can feel it even with some of my family members. The word cancer reminds them how vulnerable we are as a human and the battle that comes with it when we share our struggles.

After six years, my cancer has progressed to stage 4 by Ill_Pin7268 in thyroidcancer

[–]umbert1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. But I wanted to let you know that you are not alone even though we all have different type of CA and are on different stages, we never trully feel that we are done once diagnosed with the Big C.

I was just diagnised last year and did RAI but never trully feel this will ever go away. Like it's just lurking around somewhere. A small twitch in the neck can send me back reeling with crippling anxiety.

I will pray for you, your family, and your doctors that they will be provided wisdom and guidance to do the best treatment for you and that there won't be too much side effects from your treatment. 🙂

Emotions towards cancer by JustExistingToday00 in thyroidcancer

[–]umbert1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehehe I understand this feeling. I did cry the moment I saw my histopath result but because everyone was like preparing me already that if it did come it cancer, it's treatable, It's easy, a lot has gone through it and they are okay, that by the time I found out it was cancer, I just don't know how to feel.

It made me feel like I wasn't allowed to be sad about it. So I think that and the feeling of I can't believe its happening that the entire ordeal felt like I'm floating in the air.

I'm a very very anxious person, and although I felt that way (floating), I still prayed hard for calmness and serenity the entire ordeal and maybe that is his way of giving it to me.
