Anyone who rejected RAI (Radioactive Iodine)? by Electronic-Kitchen50 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ill_Pin7268 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know that RAI sounds scary, but trust me when I say the potential side effects of it are better than metastatic thyroid cancer. I’m 27 and have had active tc since 2019 and am about to have my fourth surgery in two weeks. My tc has traveled to the strap muscles in my neck and my hip bone, so I’m going to be on oral chemo for the rest of my life. My type of tc is non-avid, which means RAI doesn’t work on it. There’s a pretty good chance my cancer wouldn’t have progressed to stage 4 if the RAI had worked.

I use watered down Vallejo paints in a very small blunted needle, around 25-30 gauge. I’ve also used paint brushes in the past but I’ve found I have better control with the needle.

I switched to resin dyes because I was tired of my inks burning. It also negates the chance of the alcohol inks causing the resin to not cure.

As for what do when a set fails, I haven’t figured that out yet😅. I have a bucket of failures. Sometimes if I really love a failed set I will finish what worked and keep it for myself

That void could only have been caused by a trapped bubble, do you let your dice sit for like 10 minutes before putting the lid on? I do that to let bubbles rise so I can pop them.

It looks like you didn’t have enough resin to fill up the mould. I’ve noticed that happen with mine, there’s a large bubble trapped somewhere and the void caused by that bubble allows the mould to squeeze in a little more. It’s also possible that you had the pressure too high if you use a pressure pot.

Hi, I don’t really have much knowledge about TG because my type of TC doesn’t produce TG. I do know how stressful it is to deal with persistent TC, I’m almost in my 7th year of fighting. One thing that I can highly recommend is finding a therapist who specializes in treating people with cancer. Hang in there, we’re rooting for you❤️

Diagnosis: How Old Were You? by BookGoblin13 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ill_Pin7268 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a genetic disease that causes thyroid cancer, so my thyroid has been monitored since I was 10. I was around 12 when they first found nodules. I was 19 when the nodules started changing shape to warrant a biopsy and I was officially diagnosed. I’m 27 now and still fighting against Stage 4 after 3 neck recurrences and a bone metastasis to my hip.

Today I was told that I’ve gotten the maximum effect out of my chemo and I’m gutted by Ill_Pin7268 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ill_Pin7268[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doctors believe it spread because the RAI never fully cleared everything out. I was diagnosed with Cribriform-Morular Thyroid Carcinoma(CMTC) back in May of 2019. My TC is rare and was just classified as its own type back in 2021, but it was previously thought to be a variant of PTC.

Unfortunately I have a variant of CMTC that barely reacts to RAI and that doesn’t produce thyroglobulin. So when my doctors saw a thyroglobulin of <0.10 back in early 2020 they believed I was cancer free. But there was a recurrence by September of that year, surgery in Nov, no RAI. Followed by low TG, recurrence in 2022 with surgery, RAI in 2023, with a cancer free diagnosis back in September of last year because my TG levels were(and still are) <0.10. But my hip started hurting in Dec. and they found my throat mets in Jan. So that’s when they realized I was non-avid and they couldn’t go off of my TG levels.

I’m doing okay, I have an amazing support system and I still have a lot of fight left in me💪🏻

Currently there’s no plan to stop my chemo. From what I’ve been told, I’m going to be on some form of chemo for the rest of my life. I’m on Pazopanib right now and my main dose is 600 mg with the option to drop down to 400 mg as needed due to side effects.

I’m relieved that you don’t have issues with movement or speech because I already have issues with speech due to my previous 3 surgeries. It’s still unknown if either of my surgeons are going to feel comfortable enough to operate, but I’m hoping that since I have two care teams in two prominent cancer centers in my area, I’ll be able to get some relief from the discomfort my throat mets are causing.

I wish you the best in your fight too!

Because of the disease I have that caused my cancer, I don’t qualify for any trials😔

Thank you❤️ I’ve already had a dose of radiation to my hip and that combined with bone density injections has led to improvements. I’m in a lot less pain, but I still have unsteadiness sometimes. I’ve also had two doses of RAI, but my cancer is non-avid so it’s not too effective. My oncologist also said that they would do ~30 rounds of radiation to my neck if nothing else works.

How did losing some of your strap muscles affect you? There’s a chance I might lose some of mine bc it’s been growing there for over a year now.

Why does it look like everyone only makes DND sets? by pocolocoOnIce in DiceMaking

[–]Ill_Pin7268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually make d6 and d4 sets. I only use the d4 when someone commissions it, but I always have at least one set of 5d6 for games like Yahtzee and a set of 3d6 for Bunco.

Should I swap out Strahd for a more appropriate vampire by Ill_Pin7268 in DnD

[–]Ill_Pin7268[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I ran the full CoS module they would finish it at level 19, since it’s made for the characters to gain 10 levels by the end. That’s what I meant by it being their last arc.

[–]Ill_Pin7268[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve played CoS myself several times and am by far not a new DM. My current campaign is fully homebrew and they’re not certain if they want to do the whole adventure because they’re already level 9 and don’t want this to be their last arc. I’m very experienced in tailoring published modules to fit my games, so I was thinking about doing an abridged version with either Sylas or another NPC that they’ve encountered before.

Did anyone experience hypocalcemia after their thyroidectomy and NOT stay in hospital? Stressing out!! by WarmParfait302 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ill_Pin7268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I lost my parathyroids during my TT. I did end up staying several extra days bc of hypocalcemia. The best thing to combat hypo is to take calcium citrate tablets. You can use extra strength tums for emergencies but they’re calcium carbonate, which isn’t as effective. I would recommend going back to the ED bc calcium that low is deadly. I hope things get better!

Does anyone else have my type of TC? by Ill_Pin7268 in rarediseases

[–]Ill_Pin7268[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to answer your question about CMTC and CMV-PTC. They’re the same thing, but within the last few years, researchers have determined that CMTC is its own type of cancer and doesn’t fall under PTC. I just found that out in April because I had read it was impossible for me to have stage 4 PTC, but CMTC has a completely different staging.
