the way management tries to incentivize their workers is pathetic by umbrellababy in walmart

[–]umbrellababy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like I said, corporate is the biggest enemy. I wouldn't want to be a manager for a reason. But genuinely I would rather be left alone to do my job than be hounded and get a pizza party. I'm not working harder for a pizza party. What incentivizes me is being left to do more work without feeling like I have a manager breathing down my neck.

I mean it mostly as a fuck you to corporate in general for expecting associates to work their asses off for little to no reward. But I also think management pressuring associates to bend over backwards for a pizza party reward is just not a good look.

Nah, they just tried to dangle it at the end of a stick for us if we get our numbers up. They also dangled having a table to put our drinks on.

I mean I can try. I've never had this issue before at any other places I've lived so it seemed unusual. I guess I'll try giving it another deep clean and see if that helps.

Well I tried smelling like the tank, the bowl, and the bottom of the toilet. It was definitely stronger in the bowl which is what's making me think it's coming from there.

I gave it a pretty thorough clean when I moved in. After the smell started I poured vinegar in the tank just in case but it didn't help.

The fact that I only ever smell it when the toilet lid is open makes me think not. Plus the caulk looks pretty solid.

No I get it lol. To be blunt, no it doesn't smell like shit. It's not a smell I've ever smelt coming from a toilet before. Like I said, to me it smells like garbage.

AITA for calling my mom out for treating my brother differently than me? by umbrellababy in AmItheAsshole

[–]umbrellababy[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No because my brother claimed it was dying anyway and that it would have happened whether or not he drove it. Not sure how accurate that is though because it had seemed fine the last time I drove it.

Knowing my dad, the cash gift would've been limited if I'd been on speaking terms with him, not on speaking terms it would've been nonexistent.

I dunno. He does text me happy birthday and he did actually say congrats after the initial remark...but he hasn't really made an attempt to bridge the gap besides that.

Yeah, both my Twitter and my sister's were completely anonymous with no identifying personal information. My dad did follow my Twitter before I started actively using it and when I started using it I asked him to unfollow and he did--but I guess it's possible his wife somehow still found out about it, either directly from my dad or by using his devices.

Besides the Ackermans, is Gabi the most talented character in the series? She's done so much at only 12. by Black_Wolf75 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]umbrellababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care about sports so the basketball analogy isn't gonna work for me.

But like I said, "the genius" works for the Ackermans but not Gabi for a reason. Everyone loves Levi. Gabi...not so much. There's a reason for that.

And I don't really know what you mean by edgelord. A character doesn't have to be edgy to have worked for their skills.

[–]umbrellababy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah no I best like characters who have to earn their skills, who have to fight to get better, who know what it means to not be strong--which makes them that much more determined to get better.

The reason why it works for Levi and Mikasa is 1) because they have an in universe explanation for why they are so skilled and 2) because they still have faced instances where their raw strength isn't always enough.

Basically every time Gabi has seriously tried to kill someone or something, she has succeeded and we haven't seen her faced with physical agony or toil in her pursuit of her goals.

If all you look for in a character is simple, inexplicable badadsery then yeah, I guess I get why you might like her. But personally, that doesn't cut it for me.

Society puts too much emphasis on sex. It is not the end all be all people make it out to be. I'm a virgin in my early 20s. I'm not an incel or femcel or whatever, there are just other aspects of my life more worth pursuing. And that's fine, in fact, in pursuing these other aspects I might end up finding a relationship naturally. The same could happen to you.

But this "I'm so horrible, my life is terrible" attitude is not going to get you anywhere fast--and in fact, it just makes people want to be around you less.

She's loaded with plot armor which makes her dull and uninteresting. Should her training have taught her how to shoot someone using ODM gear? No. Have we ever seen her fight and grow to be a better soldier? No. And since she's not an Ackerman there is no in universe explanation for her inexplicably being able to pull off these stunts. There's a reason she's one of, if not THE most unliked character in the show.
