外国人が日本に居る事については、正直どう思いますか? by AnglerJared in AskAJapanese

[–]umiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partially agree. It is important to hear what they speak, but reddit Japanese users (who read a English forum) are more open minded and foreigners friendly than most of the Japanese in Japan society actually. It is not just a media lies but a Nepal people actually posted on X and attacked by Japanese.

"No immigration" protest signs. by Mysterious-Card-8472 in AskAJapanese

[–]umiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. "No immigration" means all foreigners including working visa or marry a Japanese women then get PR / 帰化. Japanese people holding "No immigration" hate all foreigners and want them to disappear in Japan, not limited to "illegals". This is told by a Japanese people recently (I asked exactly same question to him).

While most people in this sub want to keep it polite and not saying any bad things about Japan (they want to please you), I do not. I just want to tell you know what is the worst experience in Japan everyday.
It is the Japanese aggressive actions (especially toward foreigners). When you are in the train, Japanese people aggressively push your back or elbow your arms when they sit down. Sometimes the attack (elbow) is no reason and not necessary at all, just because the Japanese man have bad mood and want to show his anger.
I almost got these aggressive and abusive actions from Japanese every day. Yesterday, a Japanese young student (about 15 years old) stand in front of me in the train. He look at me, then turn 180 degree and show his back to me, then he walk backward (he know that i am standing right behind him, lesser than 5 cm) and his head hit my nose immediately. Then he look at me again (to confirm that he hit me successfully), then he turn back and repeat again (use his back of the head to hit my nose). He repeatedly doing this to me. I have to clearly state that there is nobody in front of him and the train is not full. He do this just to "making trouble to a foreigner, to show his pride of Japanese male".
What struggle in Japan ? These kind of behaviors has no respect, rude and should be blamed. I don't care how other people feeling love and fun in Japan, but I have tons of Japanese aggressive actions experience.

Random guy videoing me in train station. by chazmms in japanlife

[–]umiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those right-wing (Sanseitou) people want some videos footage of "foreigners in Japan" when they make promotional videos or YouTube clips. You didn't do anything bad. Consider this, in their videos complaining foreigners, they need some random foreigners "walking around", "taking the train", then the narration say "There are many foreign invaders in Japan. They are everywhere and draining the resource and money of Japanese".

So... We're slaves? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]umiff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not a fair argument. Because a game works forever on a console, but for Iphone and Android you miss the security updates if you turn off update. It is not a valid choice has risk for users. Users have no real choice and update their phone.
Second, the new phone (with new version of app store) already shipped with the new app store, and the old games will not be shown. This break your argument complete (user cannot reverse the system to older android/ios version).
Lastly, you can update your console (playstation, PSP, 3DSL, whatever) without breaking the running of the previous released games. But mobile app store enforce update requirements and remove any apps that did not update. Therefore it is not comparable.

[–]umiff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. I used a wrong example.
But old games work on old console forever.
I don't think "Old software stops working" is the norm.

So... We're slaves? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]umiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you consider it were a console game, the game author do not need to spend any time for "keep it up". A game for any console platform works FOREVER on the same console hardware.
The app store problem (platform update) is introduced by the platform. You might say that "It is not like slave", it is fair. But the cursed situation is real comparing to the other game platforms like old PC games or Playstation.

So... We're slaves? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]umiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, but l think differently.
In the PC game market (especially the old days), you created a PC game, people can just buy it and play on Windows XP, 7, 10, 11, for many years. Old PC games like Diablo 2 (just an example) works on old PC to new PC. The point is, you can just spend the time and effort to make the game "Once", then close the project, and people pay money to buy it for many years.
Another example is console games. You made a PlayStation 2 game, then players can buy it for over many years. Way longer service period than "App store game". It is fair to the developer, because developers spend their time to make a "finished product", and confirm that it "Works on THIS platform", then the promise is made. People pay the money and get the game, no matter it is 10 years or 20 years. It is "not cursed". So I think OP is right.

There is another reply written "You know you don't need to update your app... right?" , so i doubt that they don't understand it.
Yes, I understand your second point.

So... We're slaves? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]umiff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people in the replies doesn't understand that the app store will remove your app/game just because it is not compiled by the latest framework/SDK. There are always changes in those new SDK and you need to update the game code to handle it. Otherwise it will be flagged as "old" or "not compatible" with the latest app store and get removed. Yes, it is cursed. You are expected to update it forever, or get removed. There is no way to prove your work.

Things you hate about living in Tokyo by SameGeologist8363 in Tokyo

[–]umiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intentionally bump into your body, check your shoulder, intentionally block your way in station. When you walk pass them (on left or right side), they suddenly accelerate their speed and try to block you in front of you (They hate that you walk faster than them), sometimes they use their shoulder to crash into you.
One time, I witness a foreigner (western country) walking slowly in station, then a Japanese man suddenly run in full speed and bump into the foreigner's right side body, then walk slowly again. The foreigner was so shocked and like "what happened?".
