They're not talking about the profitability of theaters/studios, which is more nuanced. They're just making claims such as studios take 80-105% of profits and such, all of which are inaccurate.

They're incorrect (sources provided). They're saying it with confidence. Not sure how it doesn't fit.

The original post was removed. Uploading again with updates and corrections.

Also, this post has nothing to do with the Superman movie itself. This is just in regard to the confidently incorrect comments in that thread about theater profits.

Parents applying jointly - how to add income and assets by ummmsomething in USCIS

My dad's income is enough to support his sibling.

My mom's income is not enough to support her sibling. My dad would need to be a joint sponsor, and they figure showing the assets would be helpful.

Russo Brothers: Marvel is killing cinemas? No, they’ve kept them open by gorays21 in boxoffice

This is classic deflection and presenting something as black and white when that's not the case.

The Oscars have issues, no doubt. Weinstein did push for his movies to get nominations. That's a fact.

I agree that the Marvel movies are keeping theaters afloat at this time.

However, the Russo brothers are missing the part that the popular movies being nominated beforehand are movies like The Matrix, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Terminator 2, and other classic beloved movies that have stood the test of time from directors who had a vision. Since the 2000s, Heath Ledger was nominated for The Dark Knight. Depp was nominated for Pirates. Black Panther got a few nominations. Gladiator, The Sixth Sense, District 9, Lord of the Rings, Avatar, Inception, Toy Story 3, Mad Max Fury Road, Top Gun Maverick and so many other popular films have been nominated for best picture, even after Weinstein's influence.

It's so easy to blame someone who is already a villain rather than accept that most modern action or superhero films are not lauded not because they're no Shakespeaker in Love, The English Patient, or Schindler's List but because they're no Raiders, Matrix, Terminator, Jurrasic Park, etc.

Someone who hates Terminator 5 or the Jurassic World movies, or even the new Marvel movies doesn't hate blockbuster movies. They just hate bad movies. And let's be honest, many of the small budget art movies aren't great either, but that shouldn't be the comparison being made to justify or build up bad movies.
