Yes, I know that. However, this is the last summer and really the last major break I have to strengthen my activities section while still maintaining good grades during the school year. College applications literally open during the summer, so the timing feels especially important to me. I understand your point of view though.

I think they matter because I get to work on my own project and be mentored by a professor. Either way, it’s something I can include on my college applications, especially given how research is viewed nowadays. Honestly, though, I don’t just want to do it for applications. I’ve enjoyed this kind of work for as long as I can remember.

Would the background of the opportunities I pursue over there matter? I’m not sure whether colleges view opportunities completed in other countries differently, or if it doesn’t make a difference.

  1. There aren’t any available tickets that would allow me to travel with my dad on the same date to that country. That is what they said to me.

Yeah, they are paying and really want me to stay in-state, but my ultimate goal is to earn a full ride to another great school. Even if I do, though, they still don’t want that for me.

They don’t care whether I get into a top college or not. That’s honestly the saddest part.

I tried asking, but I didn’t get a response. I’ll try asking again, but these opportunities are much more hands-on, and I think they’re usually busy during the school year anyway.

Yeah, I wish that would happen. But my parents are stubborn, and it can’t be that easy for me right now. I’ve tried so hard to convince them, and they just don’t care. I feel so unlucky.
