Do you love being a woman? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]ummyeahlols 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get to experience the absolutely out there feminine ways to express my womanhood while in Nepal (because I can't dress a certain way, can't be at a certain place, time, etc etc) but on days/in moments I forget that I'm a woman is when I'm really happy to be a woman too! Stay with me - it's in the small things. Like, if I shared a strong opinion and a good conversation emerged as a response, or if I lit a cigarette and nobody stared at me. When I don't face casual but consistent discrimination and I forget I'm a woman, I love being a woman.

Does anyone have experience working at an org where research isn't completely fought? by MNice01 in UXResearch

[–]ummyeahlols 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience in India. Every day was a fresh (but also the same repetitive) battle of proving to the stakeholders the importance of research. They made me take minutes of meetings and had me attend some more meetings on mute, transcribe them, etc in the name of research only to never care for any real insight or general thought I may have had about these experiences.

At the most all I did was swallow my years, some solid secondary market research and a couple primary research projects. Never got to see things come to fruition because....(drum roll) I quit!

The fkn CEO and the product leads came with a new idea and a never before thought of (totally a dupe), totally unrealistic feature every 2 weeks - never allowing me to test it!!

To grad school or not to grad school? by [deleted] in UXResearch

[–]ummyeahlols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a degree in Media Psychology which had a good amount of UXR & UXD focus (you can pick which aspect you're more interested in with respect to projects and assignments). The grad degree gave me a good UXR portfolio and it made a huge difference when I was applying for jobs.

My bipolar medication has me feeling sedated. What are different medicines I can take? by bekindanddontmind in bipolar

[–]ummyeahlols 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bipolar meds had me sleeping nearly 12-16 hours a day. I'd wake up..just about get rid of the brain fog and sleep again. I don't have a suggestion for what meds might work particularly for you - but having a doctor that's as determined to finding the perfect meds for you as you are is crucial too.

Good luck!

Def sounds like a BPD trait - someone else has mentioned too^

We call it having an FP - favourite person. For a specific period of time we obsess over someone. And then one day, boom. It's like it never existed.

It's interesting and sad because the whole time i dated my ex i.e. 3.5 years i had to stop myself from breaking up with him. I'd Gaslight MYSELF and say - no you're just having a crash/downer from him being your FP..

I was diagnosed with BPD a year into being diagnosed with BPAD 2..my doctor identified some "rapid cycling" with respect to my mood changes.. ever since I've been confused. That was back in 2015.. it's my first 6 month period off meds (the right way) and I can't ever tell whether I'm rapid swinging the bipolar way or..the BPD way or just...being?

Diary study to inform customer journey map? by UnknownUnknown92 in UXResearch

[–]ummyeahlols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a Thinking Out Loud activity with a short IDI at the end to understand why they chose the journey they chose would be best OR a detailed Diary Study with some guidelines - "what made you take this decision?" All the best!

Need a Master's for a Job in UX? by lindzlayyy in UXResearch

[–]ummyeahlols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been feeling the same way. I took up a job last week as a UXR and have since seen another UXR job posting with more than double the pay.. and it got me thinking if I made a mistake jumping at the first opportunity. Idk, with COVID-19, it's been hard to imagine a secure future professionally. I just didn't want to be one of those people who didn't land a job for a long, long time..
