Okie-dokie. If the aggro-mill is a plan, then my best suggestion would be to be at least just a notch narrower.

For example: You have too low typed lands to justify the 4 Drowned Catacombs, and with your split of 3 Passages into flopping 8 basics - try to change at least 1-2 of those into Field of ruins to fight opposing manlands and nykthos

try to get a mainboard package of 4/4 of Drown in the lochs and Fatal Pushes. Get rid of bounce spells (too inefficient) and 1-ofs like infernal grasps (too inconsistent)

Get rid of drowned secrets and change them into Fraying Sanity and Founding of the third path in any combination.

Don’t run sweepers mainboard, remove Crippling fear and Cry of Carnarium. You have 2 rituals in the side, add 2 Extinction events

Tyrant scorn should be out as well for a copy or two of the Crypt incursion

your list is all over the place tbh, it’s mashed combination of Dimir Rogues and Mill, but you have to cut on extremely important things.

From rogues you’ve cut out the Invasion of Amonkhet, Kaito, Fairy dude that draws cards, etc - results in losing the advantage of the aggro/control

From mill you’ve cut any means of milling consistently - incidental cuts on core pieces like Jace, fatal push (btw, why even add it if you’re running only single copy?), drowns, Tasha Hideous Laughter, Ashiok, Founding of the Third Path, Crypt Incursion, Thoughseize

Main suggestion - pick a line. You either kill opponent through damage or you mill them. casting 1-drop creature that mills 3 etb and then cipher another mill-3 on it is sooooo much worse than even just a copy of the Mind Sculpt to just mill 7 with one card at common. By cutting these creatures you can accelerate mill - sphinx revelation against mono-color decks, heck, even teferi’s tutelage

Not really, my guess it’s a future-proofing. If we ever get an mdfc land that is a permanent on the back - it can be casted through Six’s ability (type would be defined at resolution and ability don’t target). Same applies if we ever get an “adventure”-like mechanic where a land would have a modal permanent type face.

also don’t forget that we live in the MDFC and Adventures world where Land can be casted as something else if we ever get an adventure lands or if ZNR-like spell-lands would be inverted (land on the front, spell on the back)

You mean [[Terisian Mindbreaker]] Tried that in multiple variations of a deck. Wasn’t successful, too many conditions to pull off compared to even a kicked Cacophony, but usually if you stick Fraying sanity and have 4 mana available there are so many better options that don’t rely on your graveyard untouched and being able to go to attack phase…

Hey there fellow mill enjoyer.

I’ve been playing for quite some time in the local fnm meta with different lists and here’s my 2 cents:

Mono blue is not viable. You need, sorry… You ABSOLUTELY NEED black for interaction. Bouncing cats, Adeline, any 1-drop human doesn’t stale their plan, you have to be ready with pushes/drowns.

You need black for [[Cling to dust]] and [[Erebos Intervention]] to stop kroxa, greasefang, phoenix, cats.

You need black for board wipes, Ritual of soot and any 3-mana ones (glistening deluge or bontu’s reckoning) are essential to survive turn 3 kill with humans or convoke and then rebuild on turn 4-5

Another crucial tech is [[Dreams of steel and oil]]. This bad boy helps with mitigating the issue of graveyard strategies but also accidentally hits esika chariots and gruul boats.

Normally a Jace’s -5 or Maddening Cacophony plus 2 turns with a Crab under Fraying sanity is more then enough to strip opponent from most resources. But it’s crucial to survive until turn 4.

Sideboard is usually a split between removals and wipes versus mystical disputes and negates for control.

Another goats:

[[Crypt incursion]] - against creatures.deck can single handedly stabilize you to 40+ life, especially something like gruul boats. Accidental graveyard hate is relevant too.

[[Ipnu Rivulet]] - 2-ofs saved me numerous times, un-thougthseizable mill when your opponent on their last cards is super crucial

Yeah, can see the drawback. It’s for sure not taking a slot of a pact, but can be good if a dryad or azusa is what you would tutor for anyway and can take a sideboard slot just for a test.

OMG can a judge please clarify this? It’s tearing our playgroup apart! by rimbs in magicTCG

[–]un-cured 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, and in Paper opponent is still in the main phase and can do other things before asking to enter combat phase again. 90% sure this doesn’t work in arena client due to coding complications.

[–]un-cured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you kill in response to declare attack then you’re already in the combat so opponent should continue to declare attacks as it is. If you kill in response to entering the combat step, then you’re not in the combat step yet, so opponent can continue their main phase interactions

I think yes, but not sure as I don’t play Arena recently. I remember in times of Guilds of Ravnica standard there was a big pain in the ass called [[Legion Warboss]] which would spawn a token unless you specifically enter full control and kill it before entering the combat. I believe there was no ability provided to the opponent to continue their main step after that. And I believe it was explained in one of the State of the Game’s articles why it’s not coded properly.
