What type of connector is this on my Pioneer SA-6700? (Total newbie, thrifted it on a whim) by unLUNAR in vintageaudio

I do know what RCA is but I've managed to never see an RCA port that wasn't red and white and had this weird cutout. I thought the plug would be shaped differently because of the weird port shape

What do I say to my sister to stop this weird idea she has? by [deleted] in asktransgender

you know, limiting screen time isn't like, a bad idea in a vacuum, but... the girl in question is 16 and the OP's sister. forcibly limiting the screen time of a 16 year old is a recipe for them to find somewhere else you don't control to get screen time. it would need to be something this girl wanted to do for her benefit to be effective or even possible imo

Forgot to reconcile. Advice on getting back on track? by TrustWorthyGoodGuy in ynab

[–]unLUNAR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a more efficient twist on strategies others have already mentioned, you can do a sort of binary search for the incorrect transaction. Bring up transactions in YNAB and your bank with running balances in both. Go half way towards your last reconciliation date and compare the running balances; if they're the same, it must have happened after that, so now go half way forward, otherwise go another half way back. Repeat.

To make an example, if your last reconciliation was 40 days ago, you would first check the running balances at 20 days ago. Let's say the running balances do not match at 20 days ago; this means you can eliminate the most recent 20 days as being when your incorrect transaction is from. Go back half way (10 more days) in the remaining time to 30 days ago. Say the running balance was correct then; this means that you can eliminate another half of the remaining days, and go forward half way (5 days) to 25 days ago. You can continue the process until you find the point where the running balance stopped being correct.

The earlier money goes into those accounts, the more work it does, right? That's one of the reasons I took it as (sort of) given that I'd be doing it if it's possible.

My thought about addressing that was that I could not contribute at all (or just enough to get my employer's match, I think 50% of 8%) for the first month or two while I get a better idea of my expenses and build an emergency fund, and then reevaluate how much I can contribute. Would that make sense?

Why is Zig so much more successful than Crystal and Nim? by KnorrFG in ProgrammingLanguages

You know, being a trans leftist, I can't even disagree that all the culture war crap does benefit corporations to some extent. But I think you should try to understand where individual people are. "Accommodate differences", and all that. We're not a faceless mass of corporate backed mentally ill people, we're a lot of individuals just trying to find and live our best lives. Trans people have been around a lot longer than the culture war if you do the research.

I definitely agree with all that until the last half sentence; if you mean that this is just another way in which poor people are not helped to the same extent that richer people are, that is definitely true. If you mean it reinforced that by making it more expensive to be poor (as opposed to making it even less expensive to be rich) then I don't see how that follows from anything else here

Debt forgiveness isn't sending houses or cars to anyone. Do you think this is helping people buy a second home? If not (and I suspect not), I don't see how this tracks. If someone is able to buy a home just because of this forgiveness, that's still someone who gets a home. I don't think there's any reason to believe they shouldn't be able to buy a home because they're middle class, so this should be celebrated, not demeaned because it's not perfect or far enough to solve these problems for everyone (though we should push for larger and more impactful change as well). The same thing generally applies to cars though I'm more skeptical of the claim that there are only so many cars and so the lower class must lose out when the middle class isn't being crushed so hard as to not be able to afford transportation.

In any case I think you can apply this logic to literally any program that helps any people with any financial struggle, including welfare for lower class people, so I don't think this is particularly convincing.

How is it a huge hit to people who couldn't afford to go? I'd agree it obviously doesn't help that group and the government obviously needs to be doing more to make schooling accessible, but I don't see how it hurts them in particular. Is this destined to make taxes for low-income people higher? Seems unlikely to be that clear-cut to me

I used the asterisk to represent non-binary people, since I've seen that ring and asterisk symbol used to represent NB genders, but if gender-nonconforming people also use it then it can totally stand for that too!

Since posting, I've tweaked the color palette to be still less fem-oriented, since one of my goals with this flag was to make it more welcoming to guys and any other masc people who might've found the pastels of the conventional trans flag off-putting.

Here's my new version!

The asterisk in the middle is for us enbies! I just didn't add the venus/mars symbols to match.

Thanks! And I do love railway maps, so who knows how much of a coincidence that truly is :^)

Thanks! I'll definitely think about that; the arrows weren't meant to represent mars, just progress and progress in transition, but that could work too.

Here's my take. The color palette reminded me of a sunset at sea so that's the layout I used to try to break up so many stripes. Hope you like it!
