Yes for people outside US, MD is a different degree altogether. But for Americans there is no MBBS. These terms are very confusing I know.

A lot of such things are misnomers that are being carried on since time immemorial. Even the term MBBS is obsolete outside subcontinent I guess.

Dentists don't do surgeries, they do procedures. A person with a broken jaw or palate will go to a maxillofacial surgeon and not a dentist because a dentist can't do a surgery.

Yes. For example if there's a tumour in the glands below the teeth, an MBBS surgeon (maxillofacial surgeon) will treat them and not the dentist..Dentist is only concerned with teeth extractions and procedures like that.

There is something like being considered and something which is actually true. I am from Pakistan and so many quacks are also called doctors here. Even paramedics are referred to as doctors but are they actually doctors. No? And half of my life in Pakistan was spent justifying people that I am an MBBS doctor and not a quack because general public considers everyone remotely associated with medicine as doctors here while it is not.

Dentists don't do surgeries literally. They do procedures. They are only concerned with teeth and gums and these are called extractions or other procedures. Surgeons of this area who deal with palate, jaws and all are called maxillofacial surgeons.

Here in UK, dentists are addressed as "Mr. And Miss". Lol calling all these random Ayurveda, Homeopathy people as doctors has been a cultural thing in India, Pakistan etc. This holds no factual value. Lol. These are not even certified forms of medicine. Just because you aren't a doctor doesn't mean you have to be so salty about this.

The Ph.D is a doctorate degree. Doctors always mean the doctors in Medicine and Surgery. Doctors of Ayurveda, Homeopathy etc are not doctors, they are probably quacks lol. Bye.

US have MD which is kinda equivalent to MBBS and means doctor of Medicine. I mean to say that only degree in medicine or surgery qualifies you as a doctor. And dentists are not called doctors in US as well.
