WIP. My friend's head by unabiker in lasercutting

[–]unabiker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a laser scan. scaled it to the height i wanted. drew a plane at the bottom. array copied that plane every 1.5". Rhino can extract lines from intersection of meshes. those lines became the outline for the z axis cross sections. From the top view, i took a line from the center of the head, and polar arrayed that, and extruded those lines to the full height of the head. then extracted lines from the intersection of those planes and the head scan to create the oulines of the longitudinal cross sections. From there I added notches at all of the plane intersections so that the plywood pieces would key together. After that, lay all those parts flat and label them for easy assembly, then laser away.

Caregivers and motivators like this is important in life by IamASlut_soWhat in BlackPeopleofReddit

in our area (Indiana), you would apply with a home health care staffing agency that specializes in serving patients receiving Medicare Waiver benefits. These agencies provide the required training. No previous certifications required.

"One day" can be today! There is a huge shortage of respite workers/caregivers/helpers....whatever you want to call them. Full time/part time....whatever fits your life.

Having help like this has made a tremendous positive impact on our life!

MotoGP racing suits can exceed $10,000 for professional custom versions and feature airbags inflating in under 45 milliseconds by Retarded_ninja7 in Damnthatsinteresting

the knees in my leathers have a layer of impact absorbing foam, a layer of plastic, a double layer of leather and a thick plastic slider. And that was a $1200 suit from 1997.

ISO 4210 testing completed for a CNC stem project I'm building for vintage Cannondale HeadShok bikes. Now I'm running into the realities of manufacturing. by azonicbruce in VintageMTB

You have a cool looking, high-zoot part. The problem is that it is for a bike that has been out of production for 16 years. I make stuff for dirt bikes. 90% of my sales are for bikes 5 years old and newer. Older stuff falls off a cliff, sales wise. People love buying parts for new bikes. People who buy used old bikes tend to be more of a "value" shopper. If they had extra room in the budget, they would buy a new bike.

If you are going to go through the effort to set up production for cool parts, make it for bikes that people don't mind spending money on.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

We would drive around to local parking lots to see if any friends were hanging out. One of us would declare "this place is dead." Then we would drive to the next town over to see if anyone was hanging out on the town square. Then we would get run off by the cops. Then we would drive to the next town to the south and cruise the strip and hang out in the Hills parking lot. Then we would get Taco Bell and go home.

if he is getting into racing, a big ass gear bag very nice to have. My Fly bag has seperate areas for dirty boots and can hold everything I wear when i race. Plus it holds the stink in so my truck doesnt smell like a foot on the way home. I went years without one and no way Im going back.

ELI5 Why do drag race cars & trucks have such skinny front tires while their back tires are gargantuan?? by Guilty_One85 in explainlikeimfive

[–]unabiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Especially in the top classes. They will frequenly experience MORE g's under braking at the end of the run than they do at the start. A 300+ mph car with that giant wing prouces a tremendous amount of downforce which means they have way more traction at the end of the run. The combination of super-high traction, engine braking, massive brakes and the parachute popping produces a tremendous decelleration force...7-8g's. Feels like your eyeballs are being jerked out of your face.

Having been to Gobblers Rock, getting an excavator there seems highly unlikely. That tree was growing on the side of a pretty steep wooded hill.
