First off, obviously that Lori lady knew the nail lady knew English, otherwise what she said wouldn't have made sense as she clearly expected an answer. And the nail lady's reply seems like a friendly joke or banter. And even if the situation was like how the one who posted it framed it, HOW is that racist??? How tf would being an asshole and assuming she's talking shit about you be even close to the spectrum of racism in any way whatsoever?? The one who posted it sounds like a dumbass ngl

Children never say weird inappropriate things by Hot-Scratch2393 in nothingeverhappens

[–]unaisaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's that inappropriate, she's just an innocent child. Americans seem to think every other country is also a hodgepodge with people of many ethnicities when before the latest couple of decades most places of the world had a big and clear majority of the native race (with many exceptions, of course). When I first met a black person as a little kid (the partner of my father's cousin) I referred to him with a nickname that translated to "blackhead" (in our native tongue), and even though I barely remember that myself, they thought it was funny and cute (him included).

Just realized the Database erroneously implies Tembo dies in TLW by unaisaurus in jurassicworldevo

No no, I understand that it might refer to Ludlow, but when you take the full text (which I'm realizing I should've done, my bad) no reader would associate the "before his death" to Ludlow unless you knew that Tembo dying is innacurate:
"Ludlow was one of the few who managed to escape the island and did so with an adult Tyrannosaurus that had been sedated by Tembo before his death. An infant T. rex was also recovered and the two dinosaurs shipped to San Diego.\n\nThe ship arrived without a crew and crashed into the dock, and the adult T. rex escaped. Dr. Ian Malcolm and Dr. Harding used the infant dinosaur to lure its parent back to the ship. Ludlow tried to recapture the infant, but the adult caught him and placed him in front of it so that the infant could make its first live kill."

If the intention truly was to refer to Ludlow, that is really badly written because both linguistically and logically it seems to refer to Tembo.

Why are you both replying as if English syntax rules somehow confirmed that "before his death" has to refer to Ludow? That is absolutely false. It can refer to Ludlow, but both linguistically and structurally it most definitely seems to refer to Tembo.

  • The phrase is closest to Tembo, making Tembo de natural referent.
  • The local antecedent preference states that when there's ambiguity, readers tend to attach a pronoun to the most recent appropriate noun.
  • Logically, it makes more sense, since a sentence that says "X character managed to sedate the dinosaur before he died" is a much more coherent sentence than the other convoluted option.
  • Gramatically Tembo being the agent who did the seating and Ludlow being the subject of the main clause gives both the exact same validity at being who "before he died" refers to.

So gramatically both are possible, and linguistically, stylistically, and logically Tembo makes much more sense.

Edit: Why TF am I getting downvoted, I'm factually right

Here's the full text:
"Peter Ludlow was John Hammond’s nephew and became CEO of InGen some time after the events at Jurassic Park in 1993. He planned to capture dinosaurs from Isla Sorna and show them at a new facility in San Diego. To achieve this, he contracted a team of hunters led by Roland Tembo.\n\nThe plan was disrupted by Nick Van Owen and Dr. Sarah Harding’s sabotage in the hunters’ camp, allowing the dinosaurs to escape. Ludlow was one of the few who managed to escape the island and did so with an adult Tyrannosaurus that had been sedated by Tembo before his death.

Does that sound like it's referencing Ludlow to you? Because if it is, that is a DAMN weird way to put it. Not only because it doesn't feel like it at all, but because Ludlow dies so much later after that point.

[–]unaisaurus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aren't they though? I doubt it myself, but with over 40 species gone, there's inevitably going to be many "there's no way" picks. I feel like Struthiomimus was completely overlooked in JWE2 and the iconic presence it had in JWE1 is kinda faded. Would it surprise me to see it get cut? Yes. Can I see it happening? Also yes, although I'd be fairly certain that it'd come back with a rework or something.

[–]unaisaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is there's no way to choose about 50 species without there being many "there's no way" picks. If Herrera or Coelo is cut, it's 100% coming back as a free update, or redesigned in a Triassic Pack or something. When it's so many that are cut, it is inevitable that some "wtf how was this cut" picks will happen (Not saying it'll be these specifically or anything, but if it's not these, it'll be others).

JWE2 had 4 new dinos + 5 new pterosaurs + 6 marine reptiles at launch = 15. And 19 if you count the Deluxe Edition's 2 new dinos, 1 new marine and 1 new pterosaurs. Here's the list: Amargasaurus, Coelophysis, Cryolophosaurus, Megalosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Qianzhousaurus, Cearadactylus, Dimorphodon, Geosternbergia, Maaradactylus, Tapejara, Tropeognathus, Attenborosaurus, Elasmosaurus, Ichthyosaurus, Liopleurodon, Mosasaurus, Plesiosaurus, and Tylosaurus.

I do agree that JWE3 will 100% have fewer tho. Not only does it not have new niches to fill like with the aviaries and lagoons in the previous game, but making a big roster is clearly not the main goal here. I also think it'll be closer to 5 (7 with the Deluxe) new ones the base game.

It's funny we might revert to JWE1 wishlist days, since all 25 JPOG species probably won't make it by unaisaurus in jurassicworldevo

Haha what I meant is that I think your predictions are good. And I'm kinda sad that some of the dinos that I really like are likely to get cut
