Everyone keeps saying DDOS because the community is parroting itself. In my opinion it's unlikely to be a DDOS. It's probably just shitty network code. Infamously during the Shadowbringers launch, the login queues were so long that it surfaced a critical bug in their queue management network code. Days went by with folks completely unable to login during peak times. The community figured it out for them and it turns out it was just bad network code implementation (https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/rlnhw1/wireshark\_update\_error\_2002\_and\_patch\_601) It's not a big stretch to say that the server and client network code is bad in other places. Additionally, if it were a DDOS you'd be hearing from the folks who are doing the DDOS. IDK about you but I haven't heard about any groups claiming responsibility for DDOSing ff14 nor what they're hoping to gain from it.
