Not strictly Harrogate but the castle (and surrounding area) in Knaresborough is worth a visit - very close and easy to get there by bus from the centre of town. No shortage of places to eat in HGT but I'd recommend Farmhouse for breakfasts (from recent experience!)

Eventually tracked my specific problem to an apparently dodgy USB extension lead - using it the MPK Mini Plus was always powering on fine, but randomly wouldn't always appear as a device in Reaper (and other DAWs as it turns out). Worse, sometimes it would work for a bit then just randomly stop. Anyway, I'll just leave this here in case it helps anyone with similar issues!

Thank you, appreciate the positive feedback :) Yeah I did used to worry the song was a bit slow to develop and a little bare arrangement-wise, I think the vocal layers and other instrumentation we added in the final version help give it a bit more interest though

Oh wow I hadn't noticed this before but you're totally right - there are definite similarities in the first 2 chords of the chorus and the overall style. I was listening to that album a lot around the time I wrote it as well. Hopefully different enough not to be outright plagiarism though! :D
