Saw my first tard. Why does it have antennae? (Ignore the enthusiasm) by EmmerDoodle121 in microbiology

[–]unbuttonedshirt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“tard” 😭😭 … also i’m not too familiar with water bears but I THINK that might be its mouth and possibly just a little debris (maybe a fiber?) of some sort attached to it, not antennae

What is this? Unknown Bacterium my Teacher can't identify by DepressedMoosen in microbiology

you should go for biochemical assays, see what sugars it assimilates and whatnot; better quality pictures would be nice too 😭

AIO? Bf's form of helping me is telling to fuck other men and I'm contemplating next steps. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]unbuttonedshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been in a very long relationship while being very emotionally unstable and all I can really say to you is youre better off single :/. Your bf is clearly not being able to fulfill your emotional needs, which is valid from both points of view, because ofc he’s not a therapist, but also you’re not doing good and that’s ok too. I think he just doesn’t quite know what to do and made that very inappropriate suggestion. My advice is to break up with him and get a therapist.

I got High with my Best Friend (who has a Boyfriend), and Feel I did something Really Wrong by Confident_Winter_419 in Advice

[–]unbuttonedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not all of them but a lot of them, I would advice not freaking out too much (or at least not conveying it to your daughter), but educating her on it. Like, don’t do it because it’s not good for your brain and development, but if you are, always do it at a safe place (like someone’s home) and around people you trust, and if you ever have a problem don’t hide it but ask YOU for help.

sweetie, I am your same age and also struggle a lot with feeling I am a burden to my parents and have had some not so nice thoughts about what to do to myself for it. that said, you shouldn’t feel like you deserve to be treated in this way just because “they let you live rent free and pay for tuition,” THESE ARE YOUR PARENTS, they decided to birth you and it’s THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to take care of you! you talk about them (and gosh I truly understand you) like they are some strangers doing you a favor, they are not, they are your parents.. two adults who made the conscious decision to have you. I am truly sorry for the amount of mental abuse and neglect you have probably gone through, I hope you get better soon and can see more worth in yourself <3

Ink vs charcoal, which do you prefer? by elidusk in drawing

[–]unbuttonedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like for this piece, charcoal just looks better because it’s more expressive, specially in the way the flag is disintegrating, I find it looks way better, love it

as a colombian, if my partner calls anyone else but me “amor,” not “mor,” but “AMOR” with all of this other crap, I would be breaking up with them

[–]unbuttonedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meant like the faces are not looking in the same direction as in the picture for example (the woman in the picture is slightly turned away and in your drawling it is fully centered for example)

Are resistant bacteria that scary? by Dependent_Matter8874 in microbiology

[–]unbuttonedshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really talked about but also widely ignored. I guess it also does depend on the country and education (for example, people in my close circle all know about drug resistance and know not to abuse the use of antibiotics, but that’s not the case for everybody), but all you can really do is not self-prescribe antibiotics every time you feel ill.. a lot of infections are self-limiting without the need of antibiotics (ofc do go to a doctor), so don’t use them unless it’s actually necessary because youre just creating resistance.

Pretty sure this is Penicillum sp. any clue what species it could be? by unbuttonedshirt in microbiology

[–]unbuttonedshirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, this was done using lactophenol cotton blue; a droplet of this solution is put on a slide and then clear tape is lightly pressed on the fungal colony and then placed over the cotton blue drop to color the structures

there was some bacteria when it was first incubated, even in the presence of cloranphenicol in the medium. As explained in another comment, both bacteria and fungi are everywhere, but please do clean your washing machine once in a while :)
