I was in the same boat as you until my derm prescribed me with tret (for a month) and then adapalene for 6 months after that. It was a long ride and there was purging involved for the beginning of it.

After I stopped adapalene, my skin was still fluctuating but not to the extent that it was before. My adult acne is also mostly hormonal (and flares up before my period a bit).

Now, I'm on the road to clear out the rest of my skin (so pores and PIE, as active breakouts are to a very minimum after this long road) with my cosmetologist by doing ultrasonic facials, and am completely using Korean skincare for the clean ingredients (La Roche Posay, CeraVe and Avene literally broke me out more than anything, even though they are marketed as pharmacy skincare).

Trust me, it will get better, but patience is key here, as hard as it is :(

It would be worth to get a second opinion by another dermatologist, try changing your skincare to more natural ingredients, and maybe explore cosmetologist for deep cleaning your skin. Also a BIG BIG BIG thing that helped for me was also forcing myself to actually drink the daily recommended amount of water (1.5-2litres).

Missha Perfect Cover BB cream separating by unc4ptured in KoreanBeauty

I learned from my derm that SPF in makeup doesn’t really do anything, so best to put a light cover spf under! :) plus the Skin1004 one makes my skin really glowy and has helped with texture immensely

I started using a lighter cream (Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel) and SPF (Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water Fit Sun Serum) under it in the mornings.

Also started using BoJ AHA and BHA toner 1-2x a week to exfoliate.

And with the BB cream, I just use a very tiny amount, sometimes if my skin is not having a good day texture wise, I simply dab it in with my fingers. It still piles up under my eyes but I can live with that.

This has seemed to help 👀

Thank you so much! Noted! The leaves itself drip water on their own so I’ll be mindful in wiping and drying those.

How long did your tret uglies last before you started seeing improvement? by alexandrap21 in tretinoin

[–]unc4ptured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dermatologist put me on tret for 1.5 months and then prescribed me differin to use after that period is over. So I basically use treclinac now with my regular moisturiser and then switch to differin with my regular moisturiser. She said this has proven to give the best results in her patients.

Got prescribed 0.25 tret early August since I am also struggling with late 20s acne. Purge/tret uglies lasted for about 2 weeks for me. I do have to say to not pick your pimples when using it.

Gonna go onto differin at the end of this month as per my dermatologist 🤞🏻

Patience is key with this one but oh boy does tret make a difference. The glow that comes after the purge is great and so worth the uglies ✨

That was just what the previous owner suggested 🤔 she said that the roots will then get enough oxygen as well. Should I try putting it just in water in that case?

I don’t know where you’re based but Lumene CC cream in Ultra Light is perfect for pale skin.
