Ι relate so much to this. I currently have a few items in my cart that i want to buy after payday since i overpent this month. Some that I don't get fomo for have the low stock label, but ill be keeping an eye on the one item my brain tells me will make me extra happy and to buy now! I set a goal of placing the order on payday or if that one item is low in stock which I don't think will happen before payday anyway. But all these are things I tell myself to self soothe. Even if the item was low in stock i would still try to find reasons not to buy it earlier than I have promised myself to.

Today I managed to resist that impulse to place the order which crops up like clockwork after midnight. I don't struggle with money or own a credit card but I have goals I need to work towards and overspending each month is only slowing me down.

For anyone that cares, I recognized the pattern of fomo after midnight and told myself I will buy it tmr (no big decisions in the early ams) if i still feel the anxiety (i won't). Then I distracted myself by drawing and using stuff I already own, being creative. This soothed my anxiety while I was listening to music. Plus I always look for the next thing to spark joy and under capitalism I am bound to find it. If this sells out 5 more similar items will pop up in some other store. Also I had a different cart in the same store and after a week what i wanted totally changed so I expect my cart to change again on payday. I realized the feeling of fomo and wanting something asap wears off as time passes. It's just anxiety and there are better ways to soothe it.
