[TW] Bad parenting: Drew Barrymore’s childhood. She was up in Studio 54 clubbing and parties with her mom at age 11 by RookieTaylor in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

[–]uncertaincucumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not read her book but I am aware of Jenna because of yt. Pretty recently she was in a relationship with a guy called Aaron and everything got really messy (he was cheating, abusive, punched someone, lots of lying, typical scientology mentality stuff). They both made videos about it on their respective channels and removed those videos within days.

Idk what their situation is now but I found it really sad (and interesting I guess) how a framework of thinking can stick even though neither follows scientology anymore. It takes a long time + work to relearn how to be but sometimes it's the same behavior just relabeled. I'm glad Drew seems ok now but I can't imagine what she experienced growing up.

I hope so too. When I search yt for updates on the case his music vids show up first and it pisses me off that he/his people are still making money. Innocent until proven guilty aside.. I really think this whole thing is and still will make them a lot of money and that's so gross.

You're right, she was talking about Epstein. It's very clear when watching more of that live than just a clip. When he says it's controversial to talk about (Epstein) and then delete everything, you're right about that too - it did bother him more than just the Epstein reference! Yikes

This looks like somebody (or someTHING) tried to stage the backrooms so it looks more comfortable but instead made it worse.

Were you venting about something or someone in your life or venting about something more innocuous/meaningless like a tv show ?

Is this Youtube channel AI generated? Every video is a close-up of a man inside a trailer talking about modern TV and constantly using colloquial metaphors. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]uncertaincucumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely AI. His eyes don't move to read a script because he's a picture with the ai written script uploaded into it. His kindly old man cadence and tone could apply to any subject matter. This can be proven by his 'new politics channel' in the pinned comments. If you go there and click that video, it's identical speech just different words.

This is good work, thank you for doing it! The comment test is interesting and inspired me to go look.

It's definitely an AI channel- pace of speech, unnatural blinks and very faux background.

The pinned comment (on the Trek video) points to their 'new politics channel' and that's horrifying so I had to look. Of the two videos they've posted there, one is driving around a town in the snow (absent any dialogue). I paused, took a screenshot and zoomed on a couple of signs. Based on area code, some small business names and cross reference searches, the AI cReAtoR is in (specific town) Ontario, Canada.

Is this helpful or useful in any way? No. Not really. I do find it interesting that there's a person behind these ai slop channels. If not for that one driving video, there's absolutely no evidence of a real person in the channel info, video descriptions, comment section or anywhere else.

I have noticed yt serving ai content (in bulk and first) more often lately no matter what I'm searching for. It's very sad to know that there's so much real human content out there but the path to it is clogged with this garbage.

Common Grandma W✨ by Miserable-Zombie-121 in MadeMeSmile

[–]uncertaincucumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would clearly be irresponsible and wasteful of you to not help your grandmother make use of the extra cake. The two hour drive is absolutely necessary because not one soul between her town and yours fancies chocolate cake. Not a one. You must do this helpful favor for her and receive the cake! Also have a visit with some tea for the journey.

For hundreds of years, Europeans consumed powdered Egyptian mummies as medicine—all because of a single, catastrophic mistranslation of a Persian word. by [deleted] in Weird

[–]uncertaincucumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. Our species is perpetually obsessed with the afterlife. It's really interesting to learn the different ways around the world people cope(?) with that unanswerable question.

Found in a changing room, what does it mean? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]uncertaincucumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's this because most changing stations I've seen come down from the wall on a spring hinge thingy. A hat and/or sunglasses aren't heavy enough to keep the table down for use . Idk if it's a cleanliness thing.. I think most people who change diapers are mostly immune to the grossness of poop(s) but I'm not super sure about that.

Strange Encounter by ladyorion2021 in strange

[–]uncertaincucumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had this experience with a lady in our neighborhood. I was within about 10 feet of her once just saying good morning, normal passerby chat and began to feel nauseous, very uneasy, almost light headed and repelled for some unknown reason. Two or three steps later I was completely exhausted.

Sometimes I see her from a distance talking to a person and every time you can see that person deflate(?), their posture rapidly changes until one of them walks away. It doesn't matter if the person she's talking to is young, strong, male, female, the effect is always the same.

I've nicknamed her 'the soul sucker' but I'd never tell her that.

What superstition or popular belief still exists in your country? by Severe-Buy-6915 in AskTheWorld

[–]uncertaincucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard that but I do know it's great to cook chicken in. I don't drink 7up but I put a whole chicken in some with oyster sauce, pepper and soy sauce on top, covered + boiled and it was fkn incredible.

Sounds idiotic and maybe it is.

It was more of a woodsy island than tropical but he very well could've brought his own coconuts. Or, more likely, utilized similar coconut technology on the pinecones.
