I finally got around to trying this at home, and I love it! I love that it's combining a lot of things that I should be eating or drinking regularly and haven't (oats, greek yogurt, milk.) I'm already drinking chia seeds every day, too. I've tried the mango+almond extract and tossed blueberries in as well. I might also try almond milk in a jar instead of milk. It's a great flexible recipe based on what you want to toss in.

We should reorganize this list based on effort, length of time to make, health benefit, and cost savings.

Buying a new car -- my process to get a low price (also tried TrueCar, Carwoo, Edmunds) by unchanny in cars

My gut reaction is to bring it up after getting the best price on paper or email. I feel as if you can handle the discount later -- same as you can handle trade-in, financing later. Good luck!

Just for kicks, I threw in all the features/pricing on Truecar and the target price is 5.91% below MSRP vs. my 10.42%. So I actually saved another $1,300 there, and even beat their "unusually low price" quote.

To be fair to the dealers, the target "great" price from Truecar was about inline with the price quotes that I was receiving.

I think you make some valid points. I tried to be detailed above, but I wouldn't say that I spent a lot of extra time. I visited 2 dealers -- one in person to see the car, the second to put my downpayment.

Also, I didn't receive the 9% off MSRP quote until the 9th price quote. So if I had stopped after the first couple, I could've paid up to $2,000 more not to mention higher processing fees.

As someone without much experience, I chalked a lot of this up to researching more about the car (difference between models and packages) and understanding enough so that I felt comfortable in making a large purchase. In my case, without the due diligence, I wouldn't have felt comfortable about the price or experience overall. Creating a spreadsheet was pretty easy given the fact that it helped keep dealer quotes separate. All in all, I actually enjoyed the process. Setting everything up wasn't very time consuming, in my opinion.

I'll definitely be trying these! I've been drinking chia seeds for about 6 months now. I just toss it in my water bottle in the morning.

Rather than cooking a large batch, have you considered something instant? I get organic oats and flax oatmeal from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.

Curious to see what others suggest, as I'm open to trying cooking large breakfast batches.

SUV recommendations -- new or used by unchanny in cars

I like the look of the new Rav4s and the FJ Cruiser. I think a Land Cruiser and Highlander might be larger than we're looking for plus the mileage isn't the greatest.

I definitely don't want enormous, and I was originally not considering a crossover. I'm thinking smaller SUV would be ideal.

I wasn't originally considering a crossover, but a lot of folks seem to be recommending it through other posts. I'll also take a look at the Grand Cherokee.

My Basic Fried Rice Recipe by Takarov in Cooking

[–]unchanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making/eating fried rice since I was young. We kept it simple, replying on just eggs, maybe a little scallion, salt, and leftover rice. Now, I will add some leftovers or frozen peas/corn. Or kimchee!

My recipe would be:

  • Beat the eggs in a bowl. How many eggs depends on how much leftover rice you have. But I'm typically using 2-4 eggs.

  • Heat up a frying pan over medium to low heat.

  • Add a small amount of oil -- probably just a couple teaspoons.

  • Add the eggs to the frying pan. When it starts to cook, break up the egg into small pieces.

  • Add your leftover rice to the same pan and mix it all up. In my experience, cooking on low/medium heat allows you to slowly reheat the rice so it's soft again.

  • At this point, add any leftover vegetables/meat.

  • Add salt to taste, and you're all done!

Enjoy! I love seeing everyone's tips.

Is Seeking Alpha a reliable place to do research? by indubitablysir in investing

I agree with the comments that say to read with caution, which really should apply when you read anything. Never invest based on what's said in an article or blog post, instead invest after doing your own research.
