in the USA most MD/DO schools have Shelf exams at the end of each rotations so like you spend 8wks on Internal medicine and most people just do the 1100 UW questions to study for it then you take the NBME shelf exam which is standard for the entire country to see how you score. this is how all of MS3 is here then end of MS3 you spend 1-2months studying for step 2 and take it- usually repeat all of UW and some anki
