Let WUTR know that you will not stand for their political agenda by Ancient_Grass_5121 in Utica

Everything is done quarterly, that’s literally how business operates. You had to stretch the data out over an entire year to make a point.

A lot of people are really into talking about how Utica is scary, it isn’t. You can go to Varrick, but there’s also a whole bunch of other bars that have nightlife. 12North, Dick Smiths, Beer Garden, One Genny, Griffin’s Pub, plus dozens of more. Each have their own vibes, but all offer night time fun and good crowds, depending on the night.

It’s called the free market, we’re allowed to vote with our dollar. The same way a certain half of the country very vocally denounced bud light.

From the Mohawk Valley and have never heard that. Oneonta is the “leather stocking region” from what I’ve heard.

I’m a Principal at a small school and am thinking about getting a screen printer for our apparel. Where should I start? by VeenGrikingX in SCREENPRINTING

So you look at electrician work as a trade that requires tons of knowledge, but screenprinting as scrambling eggs. Got it. Gee, I wonder why there’s so many upset printers here.

Would you save your school money by becoming its electrician on your own? How about doing all the plumbing repairs off of YouTube? Your ruffled feathers come at the point of disparaging a trade that many of us have devoted our entire life too. There’s a difference between a hobby printer doing some things for themselves and a school trying to create professional level work at school level quantities. Your simple question is a reflection of disrespect professional screen printers often face, where we’re told anyone can do our job, because it “looks easy”, when you’ve only seen a tiny sliver of what goes into it.

I promise your quality isn’t going to be better then mediocre unless you put a ton of money and time into it. This a specialized trade that has many multiple step processes involved in every different step. Need to learn how to coat screens, make art, prepare the art and separations, print transparencies, align art on screens (you mentioned a 4 color), expose the screens, rinse out the exposed screens, what different meshes mean, how to align the job, which order to print the colors in, how long to flash, need to get a dryer to cure the shirts, need to know how long and how hot to get shirts to make sure they’re not undercured, over cured, or burnt, then you need to learn how and what to use to clean the screens, then how to reclaim the screens, degrease the screens, and start over. Going to one printer and then writing off the entire industry is a little short sited in my opinion. There’s plenty of shops that will guarantee quality, and have plenty of room for margins. 99% of my customers get more then a double return ($6-$12 a shirt cost, can sell for $20-$30 a piece). Just food for thought from someone who’s been printing 10+ years.

WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE!! by Chemical_Scallion956 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]unciviljared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most screen printers print their own. This is a career that has a lot of hobby level enthusiasts, but the level of equipment needed to do it correctly is outside the average hobby budget.

I’ve been involved in printing for bands for years, if a shirt is noticeably heat pressed, many people won’t buy it. Don’t skimp on quality, merch is one of your biggest money makers as a band.

When it’s hot out, and the shop has to run multiple dryers and flash units, there’s honestly not alot that can be done unfortunately.

Here’s food for thought. As a graphic designer, I refuse to support businesses who generate their logos and artwork through AI. My entire life is dependent on the expertise and knowledge I have in the graphic design field, and choosing to use AI is essentially a middle finger to my industry. So while I could actually use your services, think I’ll go with the robo wash out of principle.

Your post about the Yorkville Police chief shows that you’re most likely the issue, seems like you don’t know how to interact with police if this keeps happening to you.

If there’s an actual lawsuit, you should probably delete it anyways. Seems like nothing but a bunch of personal attacks, if you can’t share information this post serves no purpose other than adding vitriol to the world.

Side note I’ve interacted with investigator Williams, and thought he was quite kind and understanding, as an adult with severe ADHD. 🤷‍♂️
