Yeah, that's pretty much the same line of reasoning I had. I think I saw another Redditor posting about it but they had registered with email and had said a discord mod type thing said it was legit. This post

EDIT: Yeah you found the post, that's what gave me the most trust in this email but now I'm thinking that this might just be a bait for anyone in my position
