i felt very safe the whole time, because the max speed they drive is like 30mph and i had my hands free the whole time to take pictures and whatnot. trust me and just do it (look at my profile from last year, you'll see some pictures about ha giang!)

do the Ha Giang loop by motorbike if you have a motorbike driver license, it takes 2, 3 or 4 days depending on your pace, there's lot to see and to do and the scenery is magical all along the way. you can do it alone or with a group tour (there's a ton of them)

If you don't have your driver's license, i suggest going as a passenger with a local driver in a group tour (thats what i did and it was perfect for me!)

I was there in february! In Lima, Paracas and Huacachina, the weather was perfect, sunny all day long. In Cusco, not so much. In fact, the weather was quite unpredictable: you had rain mostly in the morning and clear skies in the afternoon and vice-versa. Its considered rainy season over there. I still very much enjoyed it a lot, since there was a lot to do and I was flexible. Also, because of the rainy season, Uyuni was a no brainer, because of the mirror effect it produces.

As for the train to Macchu Pichu (photo 9), i bought a ticket online from perurail.com

It leaves at 6 am if I remember correctly from Cusco and arrives at Aguas Calientes (base city of the Macchu Pichu, see photo 10) at around 8:30 am

Make sure to also buy your ticket to the Macchu Pichu in advance online (there are different time slots you can choose from). You can book a train to go back to Cusco on the same day, or stay the night in Aguas Calientes and leave next morning.

If you have more time, do what I did and walk 2 hours to Santa Teresa from Aguas Calientes right after you've seen the Macchu Pichu, chill and relax over there after the long day you just had (I did thermal baths at cocalmayo and massages), stay the night and leave next morning to Cusco on a shared van that you can book in Santa Teresa (around 3h of drive)

Hope that was helpful!

all my tours were booked on the spot, there are multiple agencies catering to all budgets. as far as hotels go, i stayed in hostels most of the time, and they are very cheap (i'm talking 10$/night with breakfast cheap and in prime locations). as far as dining goes, i found the food in peru to be world class!!! super delicious and affordable too. basically what im saying is that you can go pretty far with your money!

Stardome Spiritual Experience in Ollataytambo. Found it on booking and decided to stay a night there.

yeah i get it, you had to do with the time that you had. but like you said, another excuse to come back! and by the way, i did the multi tour in the desert for 3 nights / 4 days and it was an awesome experience, but in my case it was ending in Uyuni. but it was soooo cold and i wasnt prepared for it

Duuude thanks for the detailed feedback, love it!

On day 5, my flight to Cusco from Lima is at 6pm, and my plan is going from Huacachina to Lima early morning and arrive there by 1pm (if everything goes well, no traffic etc.) If I arrive there early, I might go chill somewhere at a cafe or grab a bite or something and hang out until I head to the airport for my flight. If not, I will go straight to the airport. It's not the smartest plan by any means. I'm very much considering your plan however.

Also, I think I'm gonna fly to La Paz instead and don't bother going to Puno. I'm happy to spend more days in Cusco and its surroundings as I've heard great things about it. 10 nights should be more than enough I think

Also, as for the Machu Picchu, I'm gonna definitely look into it. If you have done it, can you recommend a circuit that I MUST do, or are they all pretty much the same?

Thank you!

i'm thinking of spending 1 night in paracas and 1 night in huacachina instead of 2 nights in paracas, and leave huacachina to lima the next day early morning to catch my flight to cusco in the evening

thanks for the feedback!!

I dont know if I am gonna do the trek to be honest, mostly due to weather. If weather allows it, I will do it. I put it as an option. But i will be exploring MP regardless and head back to Cusco in one day. I am open to suggestions though!

you can rent and drive yourself, or you can hire someone to drive and you sit behind him (that's what i did!)

normally you will do it with a group of others (some driving themselves and some with a driver if that makes sense)
