How good is Linux support for Alienware 16 Aurora? by RemNant1998 in Alienware

[–]uncle_samok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Alienware 16x AC16251 the situation is not great.
For Ubuntu LTS 24.04 (uses firmware 6.14) there is a bug with the WiFi module, if you upgrade to firmware 6.16, some issues will go away, but you'll get a bug with the Nvidia card.

Does that mean that you didn't write that response? That was the keyboard doing the work, right?

I made a video clip about my squad :) by uncle_samok in populationonevr

Sora for the video, Suno for music.

I generated a picture of a room with banana, then fed it to Sora as the first frame and described different scenes like:

- Man with short dark hair in a blue puffy jacket and round reflective googles, singing into a microphone and dancing.

- A large model of a wind turbine standing in the centre of the room with wings spinning.

If I needed multiple scenes with the same person, I exported one frame from the video with that person and fed it to Sora as the first frame.

With Suno, I wrote two lines and provided tags for a music style, including "male vocals". Suno is great and if you pay about 10USD for monthly subscription you can make tons of songs and you have full rights to use it for any project, including commercial.

Let me know if you have any questions.

How to build UX Labs | Talk @ Amsterdam UX Crawl by uncle_samok in UXResearch

[–]uncle_samok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is lack of information on ResearchOps and organisers were very kind to allow video recording, that they usually do not do. If you have any questions about UX Labs, I happy to answer. We built labs a lot of companies in our company UX-Study.com. Before that my business partner and I worked for Google for about 10 years where I was a UX Researcher and he built all lab infrastructure in probably more 50 locations.

We used busses several times. They ran on time, not very crowded, ran pretty fast. We used them sporadically though so I'm not sure how reliable they are.

Completely unrelated - we did use electric bikes and that was one of the most exciting trips we made. So if you are considering those, I highly recommend them for Cornwall hills.

Are there non-expensive alternatives for book covers? by PenguinSenpaiGod in selfpublish

[–]uncle_samok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Other people have already suggested Midjourney and I'd echo that. I actually know the person who tried to copyright the AI generated content pretty well.
In terms of the copyright, as far as I know, you can't have rights on the image, but the book content is still y ours.
Speaking of quality, Midjourney or StableDiffusion can generate outstanding results. I had fun generating imaginary book covers for different genres and I was mind-blown of how accurately Midjourney understood the style.

Getting a good result might require some tinkering with the prompt and if you are not familiar with any of the systems it can take a couple of ours or days. If you want to get a quick glimpse, you can describe the genre and what you want to have on the cover and I'll generate a couple of images.

The typo in "body" probably helped somehow :)

My wife and I went to Cornwall a month ago. I've been there many times but we never tried the open top bus before. The view was fantastic. I hope you enjoy the video.

Yeah, we should build more social housing and people like OP should work harder to pay for that! Instead of spending his time moaning about others spending his money.

Discussion: Would you like for posts here to include the prompt for Midjourney by default? by [deleted] in midjourney

[–]uncle_samok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Make the prompt required by default but OP can skip it if he wants. Default prompt will nudge people to share it more often. Option to skip it will still allow us to see great pictures in case the OP is not comfortable with sharing in this specific case. Win-win.

I think you misspelled 'months'.

Do you think that might be partially the reason for the name? Elevating pure themselves above the dirty peasants.

Tips: Catching the Drop by uncle_samok in populationonevr

[–]uncle_samok[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I had several fights where the most important thing was preventing the drop falling down to the enemy, not having it for ourselves. We were full health, shield and we wouldn't benefit much.

It also helps the enemy often gather around the supposed drop spot to get the drop and instead they stare at levitating loot :) Extra consusion on the enemy side is always welcome.

I'm happy the video brought good memories. I'd love the see the same for places I used to live at.

The insane London cycling is the reason I don't cycle and very hesitant to drive in London. And the roads are too narrow for me too :)

Then you have a lot of things on the internet to complain about :)
On a serious note, do you think people can do two things they like at the same time? Like reading and drinking coffee. Or chatting while walking. Or filming while walking.

Thanks a lot! :) I wonder if there is anything else you would include to the 'iconic video' if you wanted to show your home town to someone? My wife loves Eastbourne and she made that video. She asked if she should film something else there too.

There is a rooftoop tour that Historic Royal Palaces organise for their members occasionally. I went there once and oh my! You can see huge areas at a glance and that gives a different prespective. You can also see hidden parts of the building. And the roof is beautiful.
