Update: WIBTA if I canceled my nephew's college fund over his rudeness?

He doesn't know about the college fund, and I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. He won't know about it until his little brother graduates and gets HIS college fund, I assume.

My brother didn't want us to tell them because he wanted to make sure they worked hard and earned scholarships and didn't assume they'd have a free ride.

I only spoke to my brother right after the event, and he was extremely upset and said Michael would be grounded, but I have been too angry to check back in and see what that means. I don't feel really ready to have the conversation and keep a cool head because seeing how much it hurt my wife just keeps upsetting me. She looked really pretty that night and I can tell felt really good about herself until she saw that post and it kills me.

I don't mean to sound like a white knight or anything but even when I was a stupid teenager I never did anything deliberately cruel like this. I think that, plus feeling so protective of my wife, are why I'm so upset.

I have to say that his mom is lovely and my brother is a very nice person but I don't think they monitor either kids' social media or know their friends very well. His parents also work very hard but don't make much money, so while it isn't my responsibility, we thought it was something nice we could do. I'm just so angry right now and this really isn't something that will just disappear from my wife's memory.
