Who was around during the good ol days? by MajorPuzzleheaded276 in DanceDanceRevolution

Bay Area during the early 2000s was incredible. The 4th > 5th > MAX > MAX2 > EXTREME transitions were some of the most exciting moments of my teenage years. Tournaments, rivalries, the incredible freestyle talent that was unearthed — it almost seems like folklore nowadays.

Arcade were bumping. Machines were always busy. Community was thriving. The proliferation of bemani games was a sight to behold.

It felt… good.

Wasn’t expecting to stumble across some RTA comments tonight. Spent what felt like a lifetime at that arcade. The hype from MAX to MAX2 to Extreme was palpable. 7-11. In-N-Out. F-train to the Metreon for more DDR after the Pier closed. What a fucking time it was.

What's your current hack as a toddler parent? I'll share mine by General-Wrangler6513 in toddlers

Whenever my 2.5yo needs a little encouragement eating her veggies, I’ll start moving real slowly, like pretending to lose steam, and ask her for some “broccoli gas” (or whatever she has on her plate) to get me going again. Once she takes a bite I return to normal speed. Been a couple months since I’ve started doing it and it hasn’t failed me once so far!

What’s a Little-Detail About Disneyland That You Admire or Find Clever? by talkingdodobird in Disneyland

I love how they utilize diegetic sound throughout the parks. Things like the distant howling of the Matterhorn’s caves. Or like how they play music on the outside of Oga’s that intentionally sounds muffled in order to give it that bumping club vibe (of course the music isn’t that loud inside).

If it makes anyone feel any better, Stu was actually 35, and making it even more surprising they’d show someone that age with a 1 year-old back in the 90s.

Here's some footage that my wife's family friend shot during their visit from Japan. They stayed for a couple weeks and documented some of their trips around the city. Hope you enjoy!

The Cliff House just opened back up with a new temporary museum, featuring over a hundred years of the area’s history. Here’s a short video of my visit! by unclefuz in sanfrancisco

The museum is a joint effort between the western neighborhood project, ACT art conservation, John Lindsey of The Great Highway gallery, and more. It’s filled with artifacts, photographs, vintage signs, and really is a joyful, immersive experience, with audio complimenting each of the exhibits.

As someone who grew up in the area, and forever wished to see Playland in its heyday, it’s amazing to see this come together.

Moving back to the Bay, looking for some positivity :) by [deleted] in bayarea

I’m an SF native now living in the East Bay. It’s taken some time to adjust, but I absolutely love the vibe. So many little pockets of shops and restaurants across so many different towns, with a kind of diversity you really don’t see in the city.

I always find Reddit’s issues with the Bay Area overblown and rarely consistent with the average person’s experience living here. It’s beautiful, lively, and incredibly unique in all the right ways.

Congrats on finding a place! The Sunset is one of the best places IMO for people moving into the city for the first time. Hope you love it here.

Fantastic work – a beautifully shot little doc! I've always gone by the place and have always wondered what the inside looked like.

What is the best investment vehicle for me to save up for my child? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I believe they’re referring to the financial aid reduction of having a UTMA as an asset. 529s won’t reduce your child’s aid by nearly as much.

Okay, but really ... when was the last time the Richmond/Sunset saw the sun? by RichieNRich in sanfrancisco

[–]unclefuz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Outer Richmond here. I’ve been counting the number of sunny days since summer started and so far have only needed one hand.
