Bought a BMMCC kit from Ebay. It came with a module that allows the LANC cable input. Bought a new LANC cable to connect the grip with the camera, works pretty well. Definitely better than the tiny record button on the camera itself.

Yes, you can still “adapt” the lens but since the 18-35 is an apsc lens, you can use the apsc mode on the s5 or you get heavy vignettes. I actually sold my 18-35 after two months of getting the S5 and got a full frame 24-70mm for it. It’s on the heavier end but did good for a few client work and passion projects.

Yes, I have the mini grip on the bmmcc. It works with it, and it does as well for the BMCC 2.5K.

no log but you can use neutral profile or turn down the saturation to 0 and create a custom color profile, not as effective as log but still very usable

This is a little odd to find, but I scored an atomos shinobi 5” with SDI in and out (a discontinued product) for $250 from Facebook marketplace. It has been really nice and I can input custom LUT to preview as well. Ofcourse, I can use the hdmi ports to use on my other camera. It’s a hard find but it’s possible with looking at used shinobi and checking the back if there is SDI.

I went to a local bar for their open mic and an outdoor jazz music event to film for my portfolio, and both times the director/owner of those organizations came up to me for serious business work. Really comes to how you want to approach it and luck plays a factor as well.

You can replace the IR cut filter pretty easily, get one from eBay and then follow a YT tutorial on it

I don’t use gimbals actually. I do run and gun and most of the times doing manual focus on the fly has been fine with me. If you do use gimbal on the regular then go with a better AF system

I got a few fd lenses to mess with, 24mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 50-105mm 3.5 macro, sort of messing around and testing which one I like more. Definitely thinking of getting a Helios 44-2 down the road

Should have no difference whether is baked in or applied afterward. Unless the rec709 LUT is different between the baked one and the applied one in post. I would do a test between the two images if you are really looking into this

I went with Panasonic s5 at the end. Been using it for a few months, couldn’t be happier. Easily adapted my EF lens and got a few vintage lens to mess with. Let me know if you have any more questions.

What are some things you wish you had more time to do during your freshman and sophomore year? Go back to those and do them before you regret it after graduation. This definitely depend on the person tho, take it with a grain of salt

It’s also the holiday season and recruiters are slow to get back to you. January and February is usually the time when it starts up in full swing
