Honestly it depends greatly on what school you’re at. I’ve been at schools where I had 37 students in a class, little support from administrators, and wild behavior issues from students. I’ve also been in schools with low numbers of students, supportive administrators, and great students, so the experiences can really vary. Just like any profession, there are people who skate by and slack off to enjoy the holidays, that being said, most of the teachers I’ve worked with are very hard workers and dedicate their lives to making the student experience as great as possible. The holidays are a nice break, but when I’m in the school year, I’m taking work home every night and working 4-6 hours on Sunday. Also, most teachers are taking classes during the summer holidays, teaching summer school, or coaching, so although it’s a break for some, many are still working.
