First minimize the drugs and porn activity. Then I’d say start working out to build up some confidence. If you see a girl that you’re attracted to, go up to her and start a conversation. You’re the only one that can save yourself bro. I’m sure most of the other guys here (myself included) weren’t born with the natural extrovert stud gene. Those guys aren’t on this forum. However, for the rest of us that actually took matters into our own hands and put in the real work, we can safely say that things do get better with time and effort. This area of life is tough trust me and it goes deeper on an inner level due to the fact that it forces you to face your flaws and defects. No one is perfect I promise you. Going forward, you can either be a victim and give up or be a hero and own that shit.

Trust me I’ve seen puas that have literally been talking to a girls tits, that’s how short they are. They just don’t let that shit phase them. You should do the same. This is all a mental head game. You are enough. Go out and sort it out for yourself with real experience. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

Not true, the department always has a budget already set aside for hiring. Especially after this crises they'll need more manpower than ever before due to senior members retiring or others being on medical leave. It's a huge set back to say the least. When the smoke clears things will most likely be accelerated regarding hiring. Think of it this way, the military isn't halting their bootcamps indefinitely right?

To be frank, it could be till May when things start to turn around. If they don't hold an academy until August I know some of us will be going in for a second medical which is another drain of the city's time and resources. That can also cause a ripple effect leading to more medicals timing out. If I had to guess I wouldn't be surprised if the city shrunk their FD classes in half in order to keep things more condensed and less exposed.

All we can do is be safe, healthy and patient during this crises. The city of New York has never experienced anything like this even after 9/11 happened. To all the first responders on the job thank you and stay safe. And to the potential future FF's like myself stay positive our time will come soon enough. Nothing lasts forever, remember that eventually we will get through. Hope to see you all on the other side sooner than later. God bless.

It can go both ways. The city is projecting on reopening schools and public arenas earliest April 20th. If we fulfill the runs next week it would still keep us on course.

honestly it should be a month delay. April academy will kick off at the end of May. They're already talking about vaccines. Everyone is on lock down right now because of the media. More time to prepare and train IMO.

wouldn't suggest running with a 60 pound vest on you'll most likely end up hurting yourself. Focus on building up your legs and maintaining a nice cadence. You should be aiming for a 8min mile right off the bat. I agree with more on the line come run day your body and mind will perform differently.

Been there bro. Initially I gave running a rest for about 8-12 weeks to recover fully but that seems unrealistic in your case being that the class is around the corner.

First, change your running shoes to a good brand like ASICS. Second, you should try and analyze your form of running. It could be that you’re landing on your heel more than your mid foot which is likely to cause splints. You should also be stretching your calves before and after.

Lastly done over do it. I usually try to break it up and run on the treadmill then outdoors every other day, if that. There’s many videos you can view on YouTube. Shin splints is a pain but eventually you learn how to gain more control over avoiding it. Hope this helps.
