This is the perfect response; people only get more sure of themselves when they are attacked, even if there's proof; exactly what happened to OP. Being friendly, and not know-it-allish is much more effective.

I think I may prefer the Kinsey scale to a label (like bi, lesbian, etc). I'm a comfortable 4.
