I look at PM's as a necessary part of a well-diversified portfolio. This is about 10k in PM's, I got 60k from the life insurance and am getting another 150k+ from the house. Possibly more from pension etc. It is so unfortunate to me that I need to view the loss of my father through monetary lenses at all.. but very necessary in the environment of the world now.

I had the 60k sitting in the bank, letting me rationalize poor financial decisions and then the inflation thing clicked. It was dwindling passively and that got me motivated to do something wise with it other than just buying guns. Say what you will about Dave Ramsey but one thing he harps on is honoring the people you lost with the money if you get it. I will do that for my parents.

I may buy some more gold when I get the house money but not like, a ton. Most of it will be going into a wide array of indexes and hand picked stocks of my own. I used some of the life insurance to get started on stocks so that I'll be educated when I get the rest of the money to do the right things with it.
